[meteorite-list] NEW PALLASITE

2003-06-29 Thread Michael Farmer

Hello everyone. I have just been informed that a
sample I sent in some time ago is in fact a new Pyroxene Pallasite. I would like
to know if any other Pallasites have ever been found in NWA? This stone only
weighed 53 grams and was 100% complete. This is a meteorite with 50% pyroxene,
it is my understanding that the other pyroxene pallasites have ~5%, mine has
50%!

This to my knowledge is the only Pallasite from
North West Africa.

Can anyone give me any more information?

2003-01-31 Thread Michael Farmer

Hi from sunny Tucson everyone, I am here along with
most of the meteorite dealers, some nice things around.
I am announcing that I have just uploaded onto my
website, the new Pallasite from Russia.
This Pallasite actually fell in 1956, pierced the
ice near a dam on a reservoir, and was recovered in 2002 by divers.
This is an anomalous pallasite, very Ni-rich, very
odd angular olivine's, some green, some white!
I have partslices all 1mm thick!

See them at http://www.meteoritehunter.com
Grab this rare Pallasite fall now.

Talking about...!
We suddenly have TWO confirmed cases of meteorites through ice,
what timing!
I would have just loved to see a photo of that ice-surface.
If it exist, that is.
Would be intersting to hear the story behind it.

Hi Mike and All,
Congratulations!!! You are the man Mike, an impressive
find indeed!! I'm not sure if most of the list can
fully appreciate how hard it is to find a meteorite,
even when you're right in the middle of the strewn
field.

Finding a pallasite is an awesome feeling. I know that
you are one of only a handfull of people that have
ever found a Glorieta Mountain Pallasite. How many
different pallasites have you personally found? I'm
assuming Imilac, Glorieta Mountain and this new one,
any others?

Hi All,
Great Story Mike, I Felt like I was there every minute

Although I've found many pieces of the Glorieta
Pallasite, its only one fall. I know exactly how you
feel though. It's very exciting.

I'm wondering how are you ever gonna let go of a
pallasite you found? It'll be tough.

[meteorite-list] New pallasite in Denver

2004-09-14 Thread Matt Morgan

Hi list:
I spent a few hours this morning wandering around the Denver show. It
seems there are less and less meteorite dealers each year, yet more and
more varieties of meteorites! Anyway, there is a "new" pallasite from
Russia being sold. The sources tell me that it is genuine ( I grilled
them about it) and stable. It is going under the name SEYMCHAN.
Interestingly, SEYMCHAN is listed as a IIE iron in the Catalouge. In
2004, there was an expedition back to the find site and the hunters
located an addition 50kg. However, many of these are pallasitic! Some
are completely metallic with no olivine. Some of the olivine is
transparent but much is pretty dark in color.

The slices I saw are quite attractive and showed no signs of rust
(unlike Brahin).

So is this another Glorieta Mountain where most of the iron portions
were located first then the pallasitic ones were discovered later? I
should have a few pics to post in the coming days.

Best,

[meteorite-list] New Pallasite found, taking orders.

2007-03-16 Thread Michael Farmer
Ok list, back to meteorites.

I have found a new Pallasite. When I say found, I mean
FOUND! the newest pallasite in the world. I have
pieces which were dug out of the sand only days ago.
This is one of only about 55 known pallasites.
Less than 2.5 kilograms found after weeks of intense
search and gridding of the site for several miles in
every direction.

I have small pieces, and some as large as 200 grams.
There will be very little to go around, as my partner
and I are keeping the largest pieces and several
pieces are already spoken for. It is from a desert
(location to be given later when classification is
complete). It has already been under analysis and is
likely a main-group pallsite.
The pieces are sandblasted, never sat in water, and
most have large golden-green olivine crystals, some
over 25 mm in diameter.
Photos will be posted later, I am too busy to do it at
the moment.
I will take private orders right now, first come first
served, it will likely run out quickly and you all
know how often a pallasite (FRESH and not shale) come
along.
email me privately for purchase information, and don't
take too long, this is it.
