Re: [meteorite-list] OT: Endeavour flying over Tucson
Hi Rob and Dolores, I was out east of town doing some metal detecting and we all had a great view of it as it glided across our Tucson valley. Two folks who were there asking us about our detectors said we should be out in the mountains looking for meteorites, not coins and jewelry. Boy were they amazed when I handed each guy a slice of polished NWA 869 I carry around in my purse for just such occasions! I told them I am the Johnny Appleseed of meteorites. They are still shaking their heads at the gifts, I am sure. Twink Hello Rob, Yes! The low flyby was about 11:15 am (/MST/). It was quite beautiful and elegant as it gently glided through the air. There were hundreds of people gathered on the UA mall to watch for it to come from the east in the direction of the Rincon Mountains and eventually travel onward toward the Tucson Mountains. -Dolores Hill On 9/20/2012 12:20 PM, Matson, Robert D. wrote: > Anyone catch Endeavour flying over Tucson today? Re: [meteorite-list] OT: Endeavour flying over Tucson
Not in Tucson, but I was up near the Cape/Patrick AFB at 5:30am yesterday to see her leave. Weather was overcast and crappy but she WAS a sight to see! This is the LAST time anyone will see a shuttle 'fly'! I was sad, but VERY proud at the same time!
