[meteorite-list] Worden Meteorite in Meteorite Magazine

2004-02-16 Thread MARK BOSTICK
Hello Everyone,   Did anyone else notice that Matt Morgan and Jurvis Breikss have a Worden article in the next...or very soon to be delivered Meteorite Magazine?   I am surprised this "hammer", about 1/10th the size of Peekskill, has gotten as little as attention on the list as it has.     When Matt was kind enough to offer a portion of this meteorite for sale I did manage to get a modest 2.4g part slice with crust (http://www.meteoritearticles.com/colworden.html), but now find myself missing I have a larger sample.  Looking forward to the article Matt and Jurvis. (Not to mention "Tektite" Hal's Holbrook article and "What Dog?" Kevin's article.)   At a subscription price of less then many micromounts (and a free meteorite sample) you can't go wrong. Mark,

I agree with you on Worden. When Matt offered a portion
for sale, I purchased an even more modest slice 1.48g. The crust exhibits a
small amount of red paint, which is so cool!!-

Hi Mark,

I agree with you…this hammer has
gotten ZERO publicity. When you look at the damage to the car it is pretty
impressive. I was lucky to get a 5.6g partial crusted slice w/ PAINT on it from
Matt. I look forward to the article.

All the best,

Hi All,

I just posted some pics of the Worden meteorite's work on a garage and car.
You can view the pic by clicking the link on the following site:

I did not shortchange you on the size of the pics so be patient with the
download.

Cheers,

Martin

Hello Martin. Thanks for posting the nice color photos  My Meteorite Magazine arrived today so it was great timing.   I will also like to applaud Kevin on his "Rose" article.  However, I would have to say, if I could pronounce anything in meteorites correct, it just would not be the same.  Another great research job.  Thanks also to Joel, writers and staff.   Mark Bostick www.meteoritearticles.com

Hi All,

The latest issue of Meteorite is, as usual, excellent. Thanks Joel!

In addition to the Worden article, a couple of other winners include kevin Kichinka's
deep dig into the true discovery of the Thomson pattern (formerly known as the
Widmanstatten pattern), and Mark Sephton's tome about life and meteorites. Of course
there are many more good articles, a media review, and news.

Regarding Worden, I did make a mention of it in my Accretion Desk article in the
Meteorite Times back in November 2003. Here is a link to the article and a pic of my
Worden slice.

www.meteoritetimes.com/Back_Links/2003/November/Accretion_Desk.htm

I have some pics of the damage to the roof of the house and the car. In my excessive
free time, I will build a webpage to highlight about as much as was captured on film
at the time of the fall. Stay tuned.

Cheers,

Martin
