Never seen before Queensland meteorite - my 66 frag of goodness and the main
mass lives elsewhere

Thats it - no more nowhere - unique and a killer iron frag

Kind of questionable auction, in my opinion. It looks like the seller is trying
to make people think that they are bidding on the pictured meteorite, not a copy
of a paper about the meteorite. He's hoping people will bid high without fully
reading (or understanding, for non-native English speakers) the description.

Hi Darren,

Regarding the Villalbeto de la Pena meteorite paper, I thing the Seller
mirko66 was quite explicit about offering a paper. Also, having personally
dealt with the Seller, I am sure if someone bid up a paper to the value of
what the main mass would be worth (1.4 kg), he would not force the sale, and
that there is no oddness whatsoever about this auction. Btw, you responced
to the wrong post, what is Bob Walker thinking about auctioning his glenie
piccie?!

Best wishes and Best health!

Doug

Ah cmon

The Glenormiston is not for sale

I'm not asking for any bids - the Glenormiston is not going to be auctioned
and I'm not selling a copy of a paper about the meteorite

The QMIG site is a work in progress to encapsulate the meteoritical history
of Queensland

The piccy of the Glenormiston is merely available to view - its one that you
would never see otherwise

http://www.rawnet.com.au/~qwalkra1/index.htm

I do intend to sell some numbered limited edition specimens but pictures and
prices of these are again a work in progress and as stated will flow on from
the nomcom process as and when that occurs - its a longer term plan to bring
new stones to the meteorite community

Ciao

Auction? All I see is a pic of a very different iron... Am I missing
something? IE7
often goes awry in its displays...

Somehow I posted my reply to the wrong message (as someone mentioned). My reply
was meant to be for the "what a beauty" thread with this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/A-flight-oriented-meteorite-Villalbeto-de-la-Pena-Nr-25_W0QQitemZ30007185QQihZ020QQcategoryZ3239QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

People don't always read auction descriptions when they bid. There have been
multiple occasions when people would list the BOX for something-- like an Xbox
or PS3-- and put it in the description in the listing that it was nothing but a
box. But people who didn't read the description well would bid it up to the
full action price of the acutal item, and end up with an empty box. That's what
I expect to happen with this auction. A

A fool and his money...

One day, I will fall foul of this sort of thing. Then
you can quote me back to me and make me feel an even
bigger numptie! I'm just hoping that as a Scot, I am
so cynical and tight fisted to part with my money
without being careful. But maybe one day.
I've seen the "box" type scams too but I don't think
this is in the same league. Anyone who knows about
these things is likely to check and read properly,
surely? Especially something like glenormiston. If it
was a con like the other meteorite stuff it'd be a
bare-faced lie, surely.
