I just got a phone call from a couple of guys who saw a large meteor that lit
up the sky and ground on the West North West side of Rockford, IL. Tomorrow,
I will be trying to find other witnesses to the event. Hopefully we are able
to find more people who saw it and maybe track it down.
If anyone in IL, WI, or IA witnessed it on the list please post what you saw,
 Thanks in advance.

Thank you Steve.

Local news in St. Louis reported that Northern Kansas and part of Iowa has
people calling in sightings. Hope it didn't come down in a populated area.

Perhaps it's a Joe Dirt meteorite.

Keep us posted.

Re: [meteorite-list] Large meteor over Rockford, IL

2010-04-14 Thread Joe Kerchner
I just called the Rockford PD, They have had several reports. I have contact
info to some witnesses, I will be contacting them first thing in the am.
Rockford is mostly west of Chicago. The reports of it falling south of Chicago
is probably from somebody south of Chicago who though it was closer than it
was. This may be a fall I can hunt down. I am getting a little excited.
