Re: [Mikrotik] Regarding cookies not working (Was RB433AH 3.31)

2010-05-23 Thread Stuart Pierce

This is a new RB, so I uploaded a backup and restored like I always do and
fixed the ip's and interfaces. What I didn't do was set the time, so I am
thinking that is what is causing my cookies to be lost.

Time will tell..

So far I haven't been able to find out the turbine maker, but there are
wind turbines on the South polar ice cap, so there should be a way to
power the repeaters. So I would think it's now more about the locations.

I'm thinking that part of the power of a wind generator/ battery would
go back to keeping parts above the bottom temp of the circuitry...

That's an understatement. With solar down here in North California, the
maximum time we have "no sun" is measured in a few dozen hours.

Up there, it would be measured in months. It's not at the arctic
circle, but it's darn close.

So you have a couple of extremes: several months with no sun, and cold
that is almost impossible to describe. I know that Fairbanks, just a
couple hundred miles north has had lows in the territory of -75F.

That is daunting.

I figured that you couldn't do solar, due to the low sun angle for 1-2
months. That's a LOT of battery. Am I mistaken?

I'm noodling on the idea of a building or other smallish structure with
a integral wind turbine to reduce the likelihood of damage...
