[Mikrotik] simple BGP

2015-08-21 Thread Ty Featherling
What is the bare minimum necessary to turn up BGP on a Tik router? I just
need to establish a session, accept default routes, and advertise one /24
subnet.

Basically what you said.
Setup the session and put the advertised net in Networks.
You can do a route filter to stop anything you don't want, but ask the
upstream to only send the default.

Bare minimum what? You don't need much memory if you're doing default
routes. Any license can do BGP.

Ok good. When I did it on Cisco it wasn't quite that straightforward. I run
through it today and see if I have any more questions. I have to turn a new

YOUR_ASN is your ASN number
ROUTER_ID is the ip of the router
NETWORK/CIDR is the network such as 192.168.1.0/24
PROVIDER_IN is the name of your provider incoming filter (can be anything)
PROVIDER_OUT is the name of your provider outgoing filter (can be anything)
UPSTREAM_IP is the IP of the BGP router for your provider
UPSTREAM_ASN is your provider's ASN
MY_NETWORK is just a name for your IP space in the filter rules
CIDR_MASK is the range of subnets you you match. In your case it would
just be 24 if that is all you have since no one accepts smaller

2015-08-21 Thread Ty Featherling
Has anyone gotten a VPN to work from their Android device to a Mikrotik? I
searched the forums and only find people complaining about how it doesn't
work and how stupid Mikrotik is.

I use L2TP/IPsec all the time. Works fine. Just check the use IPsec
button in the L2TP server config screen and enter a shared secret.

This is assuming you can use 192.168.99.0/24 for your VPN IP addresses

/ip pool name=VPN ranges=192.168.99.100-192.168.99.200

/ppp profile

/ppp secret
add name=USERNAME service=pptp password=PASSWORD
remote-address=192.168.99.100

profile=default-encryption

/interface pptp-server server
set enables=yes default-profile=default-encryption

/ip firewall nat
add action=masquerade chain=srcnat src-address=192.168.99.0/24

[Mikrotik] CRS Layer 2 Implementation

2015-08-21 Thread Gabriel Marais

Hi Guys

I have been trying for the past couple of days to implement Layer 2
switching with three CRS125-24G-1S-RM switches, coupled to a
"router-on-a-stick" solution. Yes, I know, there are other possibilities
to do VLAN routing, but just humor me...

As per the image (http://postimg.org/image/74os5b8nb/), I need to
connect three switches together that will carry all VLAN traffic between
them. On Switch 3, I have the link to the router that also has to carry
all traffic for the VLANS as the router will do VLAN routing as well as
DHCP for the VLAN 103 (Workstation VLAN).

Connected to each of the switches are workstations, connected to IP
Phones and the IP Phones are connected to the switch ports. The IP
Phones can be configured for a specific VLAN ID, in this case 104 with
the IP subnet of 10.0.2.0/24. The workstations will be setup on IP
subnet 10.0.1.0/24 VLAN ID 103 and I would like to have a management
VLAN of 100 and in the 10.0.1.0/24 IP subnet.

I am trying to find the best possible implementation to achieve the
objective and would appreciate it if anyone would make some suggestions
with regards to creating the "trunk ports" between all the switches that
will carry all of the VLAN traffic between them as well as implementing
the Tagged vs. Untagged "access" ports on the switches that will tag the
traffic coming from the workstations as VLAN-ID 103.

Much appreciated. Gabriel
