And if you use the embedded Perl interpreter, you are doing the
initialization only once, period.

(Well, actually, once every time you restart MIMEDefang or send the
multiplexor a "reread" request.)

The default is to not run spamd, and I am not sure you can even do this
with MIMEDefang. If you run MD in multiplexor mode, you are doing the SA
initialization only once per slave process, not once for each message.

mimedefang does not call 'spamd' or the external 'spamassassin/spamc'
programs. It loads spamassassin directly and calls the SA Perl routines.

Subject: [Mimedefang] How to setup spamd?

I'm using MIMEDefang, which is calling SpamAssassin.

I understand that it's more efficient to call spamd instead of loading and
executing spamassassin for each email. While it's very easy to setup SA to
operate as a daemon, I don't know where to modify MIMEDefang to call spamd
instead of spamassassin.

What files do I need to modify? Are many of you operating SA as a daemon?

Thanks!

MIMEDefang is it's own daemonized implementation of SpamAssassin and does
not require SpamD
