My point was not that such an architecture exist but that there are
configure variables named "build_alias", "host_alias" and
"target_alias".

There are some copy-paste involved. Look at the inconsistent spacing.
That said, configure quickly throws me away when I try to use
--build-alias, --host-alias or --target-alias so I'm not sure who could
have mentioned these in such a way.

It is wrong, because there is no arch named 'alias'.
Look at
https://github.com/Alexpux/MINGW-packages/blob/master/mingw-w64-crt-git/PKGBUILD#L57
,
"${MINGW_CHOST}" is expanded as 'x86_64-w64-mingw32'.

--{build,host,target}-alias are valid configure options as far as I
remmeber. However noone ever uses them. And here the copy-paste went
completely wrong and inserted extra spaces at random places. That said,
I don't know of any place that tells to use these options and no other
one.

2017-02-24 Thread Robert May

Apologies for the attachment.
After using the $ . / configure
command I got a great screed printout that ensded with

configure: error: . / configure failed for mingw-w64-crt

After a bit more reading and using help I used a different command and
this is what happened

$ . / configure --build alias - -host -alias --target -alias

checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of
makefiles... no

checking for a BSD-compatib1e install... /usr/bin/install -c

checking whether build environment is sane... yes

/cygdrive/c/mingw-w64-vS . B. 1/ build-aux/missing: Unknown
-is-lightweight' option

Try /cygdrive/c/mingw-w64-vS . 8.1/ build-aux/missing
--help' for more information

configure: WARNING: •missing' script is too old or missing

checking for -alias-strip... no

checking for strip... no

checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /usr/bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk

checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no

checking whether make supports nested variables... no

checking build system type... Invalid configuration 'alias':  machine
'alias' not recognized
configure: error: /bin/sh build-aux/config. sub alias failed

I have rechecked help and maybe there are some options with build
instead of alias
the bit about outdated documentation lost me as far as correction

assistance please

I think part of my problem is a bug but not if it all is.
Attached screenshot of command and results.

Advice appreciated. My understanding of the code is the very basics

Thank you?
