'pkill xconsole' in ~/.xsession is what I used to do.

Either that or remove it from Xsetup_0 in /usr/X11R6 someplace.

That is also true for some other man-pages:
On http://www.openbsd.org/amd64.html I've found for example:
http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=mpt&arch=amd64&sektion=4

Every man page linked from the OpenBSD/vax page (
http://www.openbsd.org/vax.html ) shows the same error.

How are you starting xfce? If it's with an exec line in .xinitrc then
I would try to find the xfce config files and see if xconsole is being
started there.

Dear all,
I have installed the new OpenBSD - and am now toying with a shiny new

I am using Xfce, but I am wondering about one thing: I keep getting a

Re: CVSync problems?

2009-10-19 Thread Bob Beck
ahhh. Nick, you should not be depending on mirrors to run cvsync to do that.

Every time you pull the repository from me you should afterwards run a
cvscan..

cvscan -c /etc/cvsyncd.conf

which recreates the file correctly every time.

Re: CVSync problems?

2009-10-19 Thread Nick Holland

naddy@ told me the solution...

cvsync keeps what it calls a "scanfile", apparently tracking what
versions it has of what files. The file is specified in the cvsync
config file you use when you run cvsync. In my case, it was about 14M
in size. Rename that file, and re-run cvsync, it will recreate the
file. This run will probably take a little longer, but it fixed my
problem nicely. Naddy@ indicated that you may need to delete the
gnu/gcc directory as well, but I don't seem to have needed to do that.

It is POSSIBLE some mirrors might have this problem, in which case the
mirror operator will need to do that, but "my" mirror (obsd.cec.mtu.edu)
seems to have no cvsync problems itself, just my local copy was messed up.

Nick.

anoncvs1.usa.openbsd.org and anoncvs3.usa.openbsd.org). I believe this
started about the time a large number of changes to gcc were made.

After updating the tree with csup, run cvsync:

I'm seeing a problem, too, starting evening of Oct 15:

...
 Create src/gnu/gcc/fixincludes/tests/base/time.h,v
 Create src/gnu/gcc/fixincludes/tests/base/tinfo.h,v

(and failures ever since)

However, my upstream mirror (which I help manage :) is not showing
an error, and has been happily cvsyncing before and after.
I'm still investigating what is going on...I'm guessing something
got partly synced, and may need to be fixed somewhere, but not sure
where yet. I'm doing some testing, but it will take a while to
give me any clues...

For those following along in the archives...the problem was that I was
running pf, and the state table for pf wasn't big enough. Once I

no, not really, i've got an internal encrypted disk and an external
encrypted disk.
i want to store the keyfile on the internal encrypted disk, which is
opened at boot...

so, this way both are encrypted and the key still isnt accessible on the
disk (at least if nobody can break the network security, but this is
always the problem about disk encryption, and i trust openbsd on this
one ;) )

Relayd load problem

2009-10-19 Thread Brian McCann
Hi all. I'm having a problem with relayd under OpenBSD 4.5. I've got
it configured to load balance web traffic (almost exactly the
configuration in example 1 at https://calomel.org/relayd.html ). It
was working great until I increased the load...then odd things started
happening. relayd would exit (I have it running under daemontools,so

...then it would start back up. To make things more interesting, the
IP stack would appear to go insane. I was getting the following
logged in relayd:
--snip--
relay_connect: session 50064: forward failed: No route to host
--/snip--

I could also no longer ping any local addresses, nor the local
interface's IP address itself...both would fail with "no route to
host". I figured it may have been a bad NIC, but I switched over carp
to my standby box, and the same thing immediately happened there. I
also applied some of the performance tweaks at
https://calomel.org/network_performance.html, but that didn't help
any.

Nothing gets sent to dmesg or /var/log/messages when this happens. I
figure I've got to be missing some sysctl or something to make some
buffer bigger, but I can't figure out what.

Anyone have any clues here?
Thanks!

a way to specify a specific scsi number at bioctl?

2009-10-19 Thread elias r.

Hi,
I've got a small server at my place which is running OpenBSD 4.5 on an
eeebox.

The box has an internal card reader which is identified as sd0, then
i've got /usr, /var and /home on a crypto-softraid device sd1 (bioctl -c
C) and also an external backup disk (sd2) which has also an encrypted
partition on it (sd3).

the problem is: if i reboot the server the usb-disk is identified as sd1
and from this point on the device-numbering is going wrong...

is there a way to tell bioctl or the whole scsi-system that it should
attach the device at a specific devicename?
(e.g. always sd2 for the backup-disk, always sd1 for the first
softraid-device).

Greetings and Thanks!

comments for 4.5 and 4.6. No comments means no passion. OpenBSD always was

Mention no-df bug in upgrade46.html?

2009-10-19 Thread Matthew Dempsky

and specifically describes the behavior of the no-df flag, perhaps it
should mention that the 4.6-release (and 4.6-stable?) kernel uses the
opposite semantics for this setting? (See r1.120 of
sys/net/pf_norm.c.)
