New computer.

2010-07-25 Thread Mateusz Gierblinski
Hi misc@

My desktop pc is suffering slow death and I'm looking to get a new computer.
I was thinking about i7 CPU, SSD drive and second monitor. I have still my
trusty Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS that works fine with nv driver. I also need
second monitor.

And here comes my question. What motherboard chipset would you suggest to
pick?

Hi misc@

I'm just wondering. Where are you OpenBSD users from?

I'm from Belgium, anyone else?

Take care

Simple answer: it can. I'm using OpenBSD as a desktop OS for my T40 and I'm
able to do anything I need.

Hello

Thx for help guys. XMMS outputs sound. The only thing I forgot to do is to
install xmms-mp3 package.

yes, believe it or not, there is a FAQ entry exactly for audio problems.

 please read it.

  Here's my configuration:

  $ audioctl -f /dev/audio

btw, audioctl output, when nothing is using the soundcard, and you aren't
trying to set anything with audioctl, is useless 99.% of the time.

  How can I solve this?

the URL above will give you guidance.

and of course, seem not to work does not in any way explain what's
wrong. maybe you got corrupted packages/binaries and it has nothing to
do with the hardware. I don't know, because you didn't explain what
they seem not to work means.

Re: Question regarding to dsniff.

2009-11-24 Thread Mateusz Gierblinski
Hi again

@Nick: It seems that you're right. OpenBSD creates *.tgz package from source
and stores it in /usr/ports/packages/i386/all and after that the package is
automatically installed, but the problem is that package is not installed
in the end. Even tryied to install the package manually but this also did
not work.

@Olivier: Yes, I did and found something about it in OpenBSD FAQ, but
nothing that could actually help me out.

I think it would be a good idea to contact Dug Song about this issue.

Anyway, thanks a lot for advice :-)

Awesome WM 3.3.1

2009-07-13 Thread Mateusz Gierblinski
Hey

I'm using OpenBSD 4.5 version on IBM Thinkpad T40, everything seems to work
as it should. But unfortunately I did not found the Awesome Window Manager
version 3.3.1. Downloaded the source code from official project homepage (
http://awesome.naquadah.org). To compile this thing takes a lot of effort
because of the dependencies makes it too difficult for my knowledge level.
My question is if someone did installed this WM? If not when would it be
available in ports?

Kind regards

Mateusz
