Thinkpad x220i hangs after a few days of uptime

2013-12-13 Thread bsdclubhouse
Hello,
i am using a Thinpad x220i and I have a weired problem. Most of the
time, i just put my notebook into suspend mode (zzz), so, I do not often
reboot. After 4 or 5 days, my notebook suddenly stops and I
can't do anything except pressing the power button for 4 or 5 seconds
and reboot.

Sadly enough, there are no hints in the log files. Is there a way to
track this problem down somehow? I really want to help and provide
better information, but for now, I can only give you a dmesg (below).
Software I am running is firefox, xombrero, emacs, tmux and multiple
shells, wmaker (+ a few dockapps), music with mplayer and xmms2.

Thanks for your help,

So why don't we have python in the base? Perl is in there.
Just curious, not that I'm requesting. :-)
 Thanks.

Absolutely. We also need Ruby, Lua, Scheme, Haskell, Cython and Java.
That would be really great.

But really: this is the best about OpenBSD. The base system comes with a
well chosen software list. It is not filled with all that latest
shit-software that comes with Linux distro's, and that's the thing I
really love about this project.

xlock, turning off the monitor with -dpmsoff

2013-11-15 Thread bsdclubhouse
hi there,
i tried to use 'xlock -dpmsoff 1' to turn off the monitor almost
immediately. However, it doesn't work as expected. The manual page says
that -dpmsoff expects 'seconds' as parameter, but the monitor will be
turned off after about 30 seconds later.
When I try 'xlock -dpmsoff 0', the monitor wont turn off.

I also put the Option 'Option dpms' into my xorg.conf, but it doesn't
seem to work.
'xset dpms force standby' does work, but I want to lock the screen. I
also tried 'xset dpms force standby xlock' but the monitor won't be
turned off.

I am running OpenBSD 5.4, freeshly installed, dmesg follows.

I assume, I am doing something wrong here but I can't figure out how to
do it properly. I've read the manual page up and down, some help would
be great. Thanks.
