Would an expresscard work?

sil3512 PCMCIA eSATA card not configured

2011-03-29 Thread iproudlyeat...@gmail.com
I have a Delock 2xeSATA PCMCIA card that isn't
configured/recognized(?) on amd64 4.9-current.
Since the sil3512 controller is supported by pciide(4), should it have worked?

dmesg and pcidump -v output below.

If you are using the power management features (clock gating &
friends), did you notice any improvement on battery life and/or
temperature?

If it's not mentioned on the man pages it might (or may not) work with
(or without) issues, so go with the athn(4). I have an AR5413 (Wistron
DCMA81) on an alix 2c1 configured as a BSS, and have lots of problems:
no 11g; has to be configured in a certain order so as to not lock the
box, and subsequent ifconfig down/up results in a lock; needs a reboot
every 3-5 days when the wireless stops responding.

I second that.
Although Nano/Atom-based systems won't be as small as the
Plextor/Thecus systems mentioned, they will be far more versatile.
Check the following url for a review on a small and cheap(ish)
atom-based system: www.silentpcreview.com/apex-mi008

If you mentioned the Plextor/Thecus because, like me, you have a sort
of embedded/industrial system fetish, look at the following url:
linitx.com/viewcategory.php?catid=113&pp=113
Personally, I'm planning on getting the Fabiatech FX5622 on that page.
