Kernel panic on current during pkg_add -vi gnome and cvs up (related to softdep)
Hi all, amd64 current installed today on Dell Optiplex 760 desktop with latest BIOS. Nothing installed, just plain full install with one user, ssh and ntpd enabled, softdep enabled on all partitions. Was working connected via SSH to machine, tmux started with three consoles, one doing 'sudo pkg_add -vi gnome', second one 'cvs -d $CVSROOT up -Pd ports src xenocara' as regular user in wsrc group, third one just ksh. Machine panic and here is manual rewrite from monitor: login: panic: softdep_deallocate_dependencies: dangling deps Stopped at Debugger+0x5: leave ddb{0} Can't provide more, because keyboard went down as well and re-plug doesn't help (no serial console here) fsck was not able to repair filesystems after restart (failed on /usr/local which is on /dev/rsd0h, manual repair and remount was possible). Have some issues now with packages, trying to repair them/db with pkg_check, pkg_add OpenBSD 5.2-current (GENERIC.MP) #80: Mon Oct 22 17:55:50 MDT 2012 dera...@amd64.openbsd.org:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC.MP RTC BIOS diagnostic error 11memory_size real mem = 4121948160 (3930MB) avail mem = 3989741568 (3804MB) mainbus0 at root bios0 at mainbus0: SMBIOS rev. 2.5 @ 0xf0450 (82 entries) bios0: vendor Dell Inc. version A13 date 08/04/2011 bios0: Dell Inc. Re: Kernel panic on current during pkg_add -vi gnome and cvs up (related to softdep)
There's some buffer cache stuff in snaps. This particular bug was already seen and fixed. Try a newer snap, should be better -Otto On Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 12:28:48PM +0200, Tomas Bodzar wrote: Hi all, amd64 current installed today on Dell Optiplex 760 desktop with latest BIOS. Kernel panic on -current
Hi, I appolagize for the not-so-descriptive subject, I've really no idea that the exact issue was. I upgraded to -current this afternoon, and a while ago my server stopped responding remotely. I had a look at it, and I the kernel has printed the following: First bad /: bad dir ino 11 at offset 0: mangled entry panic: bad dir Stopped at Debugger+0x5: leave RUN AT LEAST 'trace' AND 'ps' AND INCLUDE OUTPUT WHEN REPORTING THIS PANIC! DO NOT EVEN BOTHER REPORTING THIS WITHOUT INCLUDING THAT INFORMATION! Here goes my dmesg, which I noticed had logged the output of trace and ps as well. As I said, I've no idea what caused this crash, so I hope that this information helps in some way. Otherwise, what else should I attach next time? Oh, I should mention that I disable mpbios, since it seems to have issues on this particular server.
