I've used Wistron DCMA81 11g cards before, they're pretty good.
Haven't tried to hostap one as yet, but I'll do that when I get the
 time and hardware.

i run hostap on 2 of them. they work great

on this link, you can see which cards support Host AP mode:

For Soekris image, I would recommend you to install it yourself. All you
have to do is to boot soekris with the card you wish to install to, check
C/H/S settings and write them down, then put the card in your PC, boot OpenBSD
cd, in disklabel set C/H/S to the values you read before, and then install
like normal.
I have done that on the pc-engines wrap box, but I think the same applies to
soekris too.

I think it's unnecessary. OpenBSD will happily fit in under 200mb
with just base*, etc* and man*. If you're severely space-constrained,
it could be a good option, but for the most part it's overkill (and
unsupported in any case).

Would you trust any image presented to you?

It cannot get much easier than using the current installer anyway since
you would still have to tweak it for your setup (network interfaces,
hostnames etc). Plenty of info in the archives about that.

donation: mini pci wireless card

2008-05-13 Thread Adam Patterson
I have a Gigabyte GN-WI01GS (mini pci wireless card) that is supported
by ral(4).

I purchased this as a replacement for my shitty iwi(4) card that came in
my Thinkpad X41T. Unfortunately the tpwireless doesnt work with the X41
series. I've already ordered a pcmcia card instead and figured I could
donate this card to any developer that needs it.

My original ideas was to give to someone interested in adding support
for more blocked centrino machines to tpwireless, but I'd be happy to
give it to any dev who just needs it.

If you aren't too far across the world, I'll even pay for shipping.
