I was wondering if people could share their experience on redundancy of ldapd from the base. My understanding is that ldapd doesn't support master-slave replication scheme unlike OpenLDAP. This is similar to OpenVPN server daemon instances which also don't support state sharing. However OpenVPN clients support 1) automatically re-trying after getting disconnected from the server 2) connecting to a randomly-chosen server from a pre-defined list.
So what is recommended procedure for achieving redundancy with ldapd daemons. Thanks, Predrag
