This is a good reaction to have :).  We considered this addition
carefully, and although upgrading a bundled library is always a risk, we
felt the benefits were enough to make up for it.

ok, thanks all for the explanations.

Do we need to update our build envs ?
Maybe someone can update the wiki pages and instructions to migrate the 
build envs (especially for windows envs) ? ;)

Cool, thank you. How will we make it available for Linux?
IMHO it is best to host the deb file on our ppa.
I have successful compiled and tested it on Ubuntu Precise, so I do no
expect any issues.
Will you make it happen? Do you need help?

I would normally agree, though we already had a couple of patches from this
release cherry-picked (which I prefer to not do since it's possible we
cherry-pick them incorrectly or that they depend on another commit in a
not-easy-to-discern way) and it addresses active crash bugs we have open.
