[Mjpeg-users] Has anyone actually got mjpegtools working with Mandrake 10 and 2.6 kernel?
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Since I could not get LVS to work properly (an avi file played under edit, but not under play) I decided to try this morning recording - first from Studio - Lavrec failed with the following error: [lavrec] image height (120) not multiple of 16 (required for jpeg encoding)! The I tried from CLI with the command that had worked perfectly under Mdk 9.2 + 2.4 kernel: [EMAIL PROTECTED] david]# LAV_VIDEO_DEV=/dev/video0 [EMAIL PROTECTED] david]# lavrec -f a i P -d 2 -q 80 -s -l 60 -R l -U /Data/newbyhall.avi 0.02.12:14 int:040 lst: 2 ins: 1 del: 0 ae: 0 td1=0.012 td2=0.040 Recording time : 0.02.12:14 Lost frames : 002 A/V sync ins/del: 001/000 Audio errors: 000 That looked OK - but the file newbyhall.avi is not anywhere on the computer! I am still trying to find how to get v4l to load before X without causing a reboot. If anyone has got this combination working, would you please walk me through the way you configured the module loading? Comparing the FAQ with lsmod I see: Pinnacle/Miro DC10+: * Zoran zr36067 PCI controller Y * Zoran zr36060 MJPEG codecY * Philips saa7110a TV decoder N * Analog Devices adv7176 TV encoder N > Drivers to use: videodev, Y i2c-core, Y i2c-algo-bit, Y videocodec, Y sa7110, N adv7175, Y zr36060, Y zoran N The TV decoder is listed in the FAQ as saa7110a. while I have saa7110 As I understand it, the zoran driver is for 2.4 kernels only. Does this list give any clues? I have made sure that /dev/video, /dev/v4l and /dev/v4l/video0 all have adequate permissions, with the group set to video and both David and myself added to group video. TVTime tells me that it cannot open capture device /dev/video0 That's all the clues I can think of. Anne, I'm using Mandrake 10.0 Official, the 2.6 kernel, and the mjpegtools RPM which comes with the Mandrake distribution - everything works for me. $ lavrec -f a i P -d 2 -q 80 -s -l 60 -R l -U \ /Data/newbyhall.avi You need a dash in front of the input option "i". I thought that putting vl4 into > XF86Config-4 did that? Not exactly. The 'v4l' in your XF86Config loads the XFree86 v4l/Xv module. This module will provide an Xv-implementation of the v4l overlay via X. this is a fancy way of doing very simple display of video on-screen without needing a lot of code. However, your *kernel* needs to *support* your card before X can *use* the card, so you load both the v4l modules (videodev.o, v4l2-common.o, etc.) and the driver module (e.g. zr36067.o or zoran.o, depending on whether you use the CVS driver or the 2.6.x built-in one). Then, your kernel supports your card and X can use it. Right, but lavrec only starts a new file if you add the %02d for example to the output filename. Try replacing the /Data/cottingley.avi with /Data/cottingley%02d.avi and you will get in /Data/ files named: cottingley00.avi, cottingley01.avi Till 99 is reached.
