Currently the only available code is the xine plugin that is what I
first wrote. When I started thinking about multiplexing, I saw that I
could share a number of things and that the optimal strategy would be
for a library to provide reading and chunking of subtitles as you
described and keep the multiplexer relatively ignorant of this. That
way, any subtitle format that could be read by the library would be
usable.

So I started splitting the code into a generic part and a part specific
to xine and registered the SourceForge project to hold it.
Unfortunately, I had to stop there suddenly and, though I have found
some free time lately, I have procrastinated until lately when, at the
request of others, I have published what I had. With late night's
release, I can say there is a usable version of the xine plugin ready
for testing beyond my own computers.

I do not plan to proceed that line of development. I want now to return
to the original plan, start the split and evolve from that. That is, a
library core plus some simple command-line tools, and a number of
developments to use the library in other projects such as xine, mplex,
etc. The purpose is that it would be just a testing playground and that
more or less stable versions of those would actually be part of those
other projects.

So, currently, there is little code that is directly usable by mplex,
but the goals very much overlap those of Laurent and as soon as I start
pushing the split, everything will be clearer. Or so I hope.

So it would be great if we both could build on each other's work.

Best wishes,

Julio

I think my recently restarted project at

has very much the same goals as your work.

I will contact you separately on this topic.
