Re: [mk2-16v] Idle evens out once warm. Motronic
Just read a post off an alternator charging thread on vwvortex, Also check the dash light, mine doesn't work and I must rev it up past 3500 rpm to get it to charge. The light is what excites it. I guess once the ignition is switched to the second position, 12v goes to the indicator bulb on the dash, exciting the blue wire and grounding the alternator. Not 100% sure but works something like that. I'm going to replace the bulb and post results... Back to my other issue.. I removed all intake boots, hoses and found a bend in the hard plastic intake tube caused by tightening the clamp too tight. Straightened out the bend and seemed to fix the issue. Idle stays even after start up. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MK2-16v group. Re: [mk2-16v] Idle evens out once warm. Motronic
I read the exciter wire connects to the battery bulb on the dash and if the light doesn't turn on it will cause the problems im currently having. Re: [mk2-16v] Idle evens out once warm. Motronic
I wiggled the connector again while warming up and nothing. Still idled rough at 800 rpm then shot to 1000 rpm then drove and idled fine. The voltage regulator was replaced less than two months ago. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MK2-16v group. Re: [mk2-16v] Idle evens out once warm. Motronic
Ok so I think my problem lies in the connection at the dpr. I wiggled the connector while warming up and the idle shot up to 1100 rpm. The only issue is I can't find the part number for the connector. The website link I posted earlier is for the fuel injector. I'm also having a problem with my alternator not charging until I rev past 4000 rpm. I was driving and the exciter wire on my alternator ripped from the connector. I crimped a new terminal but it won't charge until I rev. Which is really bad because I go to work in the early morning when it's cold. I really appreciate the help guys. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MK2-16v group.
