The organization of content on Wikipedia is very different to the structure on 
Wiktionary, so I'm not sure if simply forking the app will produce something 
useful. The same might be true for Kiwix, but it sounds like they plan to do 
some Wiktionary-specific customizations.

It's sad to see that development efforts for generic solutions / apps for 
sister projects don't have a high priority at the WMF right now, it just 
reinforces the view that Wikimedia = Wikipedia.

What's the biggest feature you're missing from these apps?

That's nice.

If someone wants something similar (offline) right now, there's Aard2
which can be used to browse many sites, including Wiktionary, offline.

Hi Michael,

This might not entirely answer your question, but FYI the Kiwix team has been 
actively working on making a wiktionary app (offline). There are some extra 
hurdles to deal with, but I’ve got good hopes we will be able to come up with a 
first MVP by the end of this year.
