[Mobile.AI] Braille input keyboard

2014-10-13 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
Is there just a keyboard with braille input for android devices which can be
used to type as and when needed or set up as the default keyboard?
SIMPLEYE is a launcher and not a preferred mode of interface with the device
always, I am given to understand.

With thanks and regards

[Mobile.AI] Call history

2014-10-13 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
I installed call history from google play to know dialed, received and missed
called separately in folders, as default android provides no such segregation.
However, it is inaccessible with talk back in android 4.2 JB. Folder names are
spoken but with list with zero items announced, even though sighted can see
list of calls.
Is there any other app for the purpose, as I do miss separate folders of
symbian for separate calls.

With thanks and regards

Re: [Mobile.AI] iPhone: Selecting text and Editing

2014-10-13 Thread Harbhajan
hai,
let me try to solve your problem to the best of my knowledge.
in order to select text from a web page or any blog of text first navigate to
the word or line you want to copy. then perform two finger swipe down gesture.
now the voice over will start speaking the text from the selection point. now
perform three fingers 4 tabs. all the text spoken by voice over will be pasted
on the clip board which can be further pasted in any application such as notes
or messaging by double tab and holding with one finger and select paste from
the above menu.
while editing a document you need to select the desired navigation item from
the router such as character or word. when you enter a text box the curser is
highlighted at the first character of the first word. move to the word or
character you want to edit or delete using the router. now lets take your
example of the word mistike. in order to delete i navigate to it and press
delete. now i will be deleted. to put the letter a after t navigate to the
letter t and enter a usin the keypad.
text can also be copied using double tab and hold with one finger. some options
will appeare at the top of the screen. now choose from select, select all, and
define. select will select the character, word or line as per your router
settings. now activate edit from the router. swiping down with one finger will
present you with the options of copy and so on. simply activate the desired
item and paste anywhere you like.
please feel free to contact me if any dificulty is faced on 9812814111

Tried it, didn't like the idea of a separate launcher for blind users,
I wanted something that works with and enhances TalkBack. I do like
and support the idea of a separate keyboard being provided with the
option to use it as default one in place of the Google Keyboard or
which ever native keyboard built-in by the manufacturer.

Subject: [Mobile.AI] my views on Simpleye.

Hello all, greetings of the day.
A few days back we were eagerly waiting for the launch of a new
accessibility app which was supposed to become an alternative way of
typing on Android devices for the visually impaired people. I have
tried this app a little and here are my views on it:
It is a launcher app with limited functions. we can just dial and
receive calls, send messages, go through some news articles, listen to
music, create voice and text notes and use clock and calculator
functions. as far as launcher is concerned, i'm not in favour of using
this type of launchers because of their limited utility. I prefer a
main stream launcher with accessibility features.
the most important and promising feature of the app is its Braille
keyboard. the layout of the keypad is similar to a cell of a braille
writing device containing six dots. the screen is divided into six
blocks representing six dots, three on left and the other three on the
right side of the screen. we have to slide our finger on these blocks
to write a character, swipe right and hold with two fingers to add a
space and swipe left and hold with two fingers to delete previous
character. we can swipe down and hold with two fingers to listen to
typed text. as far as the layout of the keyboard is concerned, I liked
it more than the recently launched app: "MBraille."
but, there are many areas where the developers of the app will have to
work hard. a few of these are:
1. the app launches automatically even after exiting it. so we have
two options if we don't want to use the app for a while, either to
force stop or uninstall it.
2. At present we can not copy the text we type using the braille
keyboard. "MBraille" provides this facility. in "mBraille" the typed
text automatically gets copyed on the clipboard, as soon as we switch
to another app. I am hopeful that "simpleye" creators will add this
feature in future versions. without the ability to copy the typed text
the app doesn't fulfill its purpose.
3. The devs of the app should develop the braille keyboard separately
as an alternate to the google keyboard and there should be an option
to select it as default keyboard.
4. the jestures to add a space or delete previous character are time
consuming and works like a spead breaker.
5. there should be a jesture to delete previous word.
6. the app currently speaks the characters only as we type. it should
also speak the word after adding the space.
7. the jesture for exiting the keyboard should be changed to double
tap and hold because the current jesture (single tap and hold)
sometimes gets performed unintentionally.
so these are my suggestions to the Kriyate team if they are on the
list.list members are also requested to express their views . our
feedback will help the devs to develop the app.

[Mobile.AI] iPhone: Selecting text and Editing

2014-10-13 Thread Mister CANE
Dear Folks;

Here is something I find really challenging to do. Firstly I cannot copy any
content from the internet i.e. any website. May be there is a way but I have
no idea how.

Secondly; in a text editor like the Notes or Email app. If I want to delete
or add a sentence I am finding it really hard to select the text. I cant
position the cursor to where I want despite using the rotor to navigate by
characters. Even if I manage to do so; I can not coppy or edit the text in
focus because I could not understand where the cursor is positioned.

Let us see an example to help illustrate. This word has a spelling mistike;
so I use character navigation till I here the letter I and touch delete.
Sometimes I am not sure if it deleted the letter I or the letter t or k.
Most probably it would have deleted the letter t as per my understanding.
Here again I wish to replace the letter I with the letter a so I navigate to
letter k and then type a but very unsure if it has put in the letter in the
correct place.

Another big challenge how do I copy blocks of text and delete them?

I understand you might have to spend some considerable time in trying to
reply to my questions; so I would not mind any tutorials that help with the
same. I have searched on apple viz and tried all such stunts but no gain
only pain!

Thank you all for the continued support.
