[Mobile.AI] Gesture problem in IPhone 5s

2014-11-03 Thread jagadeshwari kumari
Hi IPhone users, as the subject line says, even though orientation lock is
on, while travelling I am not finding the icons in their original position.
What is the solution for this?

2014-11-03 Thread Mujeeb Rahman
Hi Austin,

Thank you for confirming the same. Will surely give a try, but before
that let me please know the method to bring back the device to its
normal mode and also is there any drawback if I enable this app on my
device? Would you recommend it for Talkback users?

Hello all,

Eager to know if Android has any option to switch off the display
while using like we do in PC. Have read somewhere that an app is
available on play store to allow the users to enable this advance
option on their devices. Just wanted to confirm with you all.

Hopefully waiting for your comments for my Android 4.2.

Re: [Mobile.AI] SMS questions-android one

2014-11-03 Thread Kannan. C

What is the difference between paid and free version of accessible
editor,

I have no idea regarding this.

will it work for
some days?

No. It will work as long as you use; But, with the exemption of some
features

when sent a message through accessible editor, I did not
find the sent message in my local messaging app,, does that means sending
SMS through accessible editor doesn't save the sent messages?

It will be saved in the sms registry, but not shown in the stack
messaging app. Whereas, It can be viewed in the accessible sms app.
Adding some more to that, If we enable the first letter caps in keyboard
settings, It won't work in either accessible editor or in accessible sms.

Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] SMS questions-android one

First, Let's know the messaging procedure of Android.
You cannot send more than ten sms when you happen to send in group. It
means, You can have only ten members or less per group.
Now the talkback team themselves started creating accessible apps. For
text reading and editing, AccessibleEditor is available for free and
paid. For sending sms with full accessibility, use AccessibleSmsLight
for free, and paid version also available with little difference. These
two applications can do the fullfillment of accessibility to the fullest.
SMSComposer is no longer accessible from Android 4.0 and above. You can
try HandsendSms or GoSmsPro for further challenging accessibility, where
no buttons are labeled.
Coming to the part of answering your queries,

1. How to delete a single message in android one?

Go to the thread in messaging, from which you'd like to delete the
particular message. double tap long press on the message you'd like to
delete for a second and lift your hand. Then you can see the options like
forward, copy, delete, more etc either on the top of the thread or at the
bottom of the thread. You can delete messages one by one within the thread.
Whereas, You can delete multiple threads at once.

2. How to delete multiple threads?

Go to messaging, navigate to the thread you'd like to delete and double tap
long press on the thread for a second and lift your finger. either on the
top or in the bottom of screen, you can find the options like delete, and
number of threads selected etc. as soon as you double tap long pressed on a
thread, you are ready to choose multiple threads before performing an
action. As soon as you select one thread, you can navigate to the next
thread you want to delete, and just double tap on it to select. Likewise,
you can select multiple threads and click on the action you'd like to
perform which will be hanging either on the top or in the bottom of the
screen. Please note that you must not press back or home buttons in the
middle of selecting process.

   3. How to send message collectively to many recipients?
I have created groups but cannot seem to send message to them. There is no
option.

Sending via group is a good choise if the action and the recipients are
regular. Else, add recipients one by one by just typing their names' first
few letters and select from the choise given below the to edit-box.

Try the procedures I told above only with stack messaging app or with
GoSmsPro. I'm still meddling with accessibleSmsLight!

Waiting for further queries for a better Android experience!

adding to this, some newer phones from Samsung are also on the way
those would have LTE capability as wel. furthermore, the design and
specx are also good. the phones are said to be in mid range segment.
so wait for few days before you make a buy.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone

2014-11-03 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Good u have decided to experience android world. But u are going for
nexus 6 as starting point of this jurney! Have u gone through the
technical specification of nexus6? Its a high end device, mean a huge
device with screen size of 6 inches! It is being manufactured by
Motorola itself. Since u have cited iPhone being expensive that's why
u want to go for android, but mind it, nexus 6 will cost u more than
the iPhone 5s. The starting price of nexus is going to be more than
500 Euros, that will be more than 40,000 rupees. If u want to
experience android world not spending much, my advice for you will be
for moto g or moto x 2014 editions. Else u may consider Samsung latest
device such as galaxy 5s mini or Samsung note3.

Re: [Mobile.AI] SMS questions-android one

2014-11-03 Thread Vikas Kapoor
What is the difference between paid and free version of accessible
editor, I've installed it and it is saying demo version, will it work for
some days? Further, when sent a message through accessible editor, I did not
find the sent message in my local messaging app,, does that means sending
SMS through accessible editor doesn't save the sent messages? Please note
I'm not talking about send text to another app, rather sending directly from
the accessible editor.

Waiting for further queries for a better Android experience!

as well and so is the Google Drive app. Another option if you want some free

Try @Voice Aloud, its the best document reader app I have come across.
Its free and fully accessible, and you have the choice to use the
app's built-in reader or you can read with TalkBack as well, as the
document view is quite accessible.

Dear all,
I read an article, where it was stated that currently, stock Android
does not support clearing all Recent Apps at once.
I too can't find any button 'Clear All' or 'Delete All' in Recent
Apps, so I have to individually remove each app from the list.
Could you all suggest a method by which I could quickly clear all apps at

I would appreciate any assistance.

1. Double click a message you want to delete and keep holding down to get
the relevant options which has delete option as well.
2. Once you select a particular thread, just touch on the left upper side of
the screen and you'll see some option like, 1 selected button, double click
it and there in you will find select all, ( just keep swiping your finger
till you get this option if not able to locate it on the screen.)

Friends
Thanks for guiding me through android adoption.
Here I come, perhaps with silly initial doubts about SMS in my micromax

1. I am able to delete a particular thread by opening the message and going
to more options, but how to delete a particular message and how to delete
multiple threads?
2. If I install another messaging app, say SMS composer for getting the
folder view which I prefer, how to make it the default messaging app?

With thanks and regards

Geeks come up with mobile app to help the blind read faces
Baishali Adak, Mar 11, 2014, DHSN :

Campus innovation

Contrary to popular belief that the Indian education system does not promote
innovation, Indian students are coming up with top-of-the-line science projects
and even winning prestigious international competitions worldwide.

Recently, four students from different private engineering colleges in
Delhi-NCR developed a mobile application for the visually impaired and bagged
the first prize at the influential Geeklist#hack4good competition. Their
invention helps the visually challenged recognise faces and even the emotions
reflected therein. Not surprising, their project has fetched them $10,000 as
cash prize, free trips to UK and US, and even a host of national and
international sponsors who are willing to buy their invention.

The students are Sonu Raj and Siddarth Sudhakar of Apeejay Stya University in
Sohna, Hitesh Dua of Amity School of Engineering in Noida and Manish Bisht of
GB Pant Engineering
College, Delhi.

The Hack4good competition is sponsored by a San Francisco-based organisation
called Geeklist. The forum encourages software development and entrepreneurship
to help in social areas such as disability, healthcare, education, human
rights, agriculture and humanitarian aid. It is held online every year across
50 cities worldwide. This time they had participation from over 5,000 software
developers across the globe, which came down to 2,500 at the semi-final and the
project developed by
the Indian students at the grand finale.

Bachelor of Technology

IIIrd year student Sonu Raj tells us, "We knew that we wanted to develop a
mobile application but weren't sure of the social issue to target. Then we
noticed that blind persons are a much neglected section when it comes to mobile
use and applications. The biggest problem that visually-impaired persons
encounter is recognising people by the face. This is also the story of those
affected by Prosopagnosia or Face Blindness - a condition caused by brain
injury. We decided that we have to help them."

Sonu's junior in college, BTech Ist year student Siddarth adds, "It took us a
week to develop 'White Cane.' This android application recognises faces and
speaks out their names. It is also able to describe the facial features of a
person right down to his mood. Not just that, it stores a database of faces and
people to which more can be added or deleted at will. It starts up with a hard
key
button, which is easy to locate and operate by the
visually challenged."

The students proudly share that the judges were most impressed at the "focused
and technologically-sound" project. "The judges were extremely pleased with the
execution and presentation of this project - the voice interface, the added
features of understanding emotion - it just blew them away!" says Hitesh Dua of
Amity School of Engineering.

Now the youngsters are also planning to test their application on a target
audience to get better feedback for 'White Cane'.

"From a video we put up on YouTube, we have already received a comment from a
patient of Prosopagnosia. This has boosted our confidence immensely. We want
White Cane to ease the lives of the visually impaired who form a significant
part of our society. It's a proud moment," added Manish Bisht of
