Re: [Mobile.AI] Security in Playstore

2016-12-25 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
It depends on what you would download. There may be apps that produce virus
too... I believe, Play Store team do take enough measures to ensures apps
are secure and virus free to most extent. If you are downloading usual apps
like banking, transport etc., or that of popular, should not be a problem.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Getting Started: iPhone 6S

2015-11-01 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Dear George:

Congratulations and welcome to the family of iPhone users! Please see my
comments below prefixed with Vasu:

"I came home and switched on the phone and the phone told me that I should
enter the 6 digit code when I switch the phone on for the first time. I
tried various things in terms of tapping, sliding and swiping my fingers
but could not find the alphabets. Only numbers were to be seen."
Vasu: That's correct. you will only see numbers on lock screen. When you
hear a number, you can double tap.

1. The screen is off (nothing to be seen)
Vasu: Use 3 fingers tap thrice in quick succession. This will turn off
screen curtain.

3. Need to type the pass code to proceed further.
Vasu: swipe to number you need and double tap.

Feel free to contact if you need any further help. BTW, you should check
out http://applevis.com

Best,
Vasu

Re: [Mobile.AI] seeking for suggestion whether to buy i phone/ android phone

2015-06-29 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Vivek and others,
Only limitation I see with Android phones is that we don't get software
updates as quick as we get on stock android phones.

If user is not very passionate of expecting OS to get updated immediately
after release, it would be safe option to consider.

2015-06-29 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
I think Android is improving greatly. While iPhone is good from
accessibility prospective, there are some advantages with Android such as
ease of transfering media from PC to divide and device to PC, more storage;
you can expand additional memory at less cost, more apps.

Choice is yours,

Re: [Mobile.AI] Fwd: Re: Panasonic T9 - an affordable and accessible mobile phone

2015-04-08 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Aravind, I haven't used Samsung phone so sadly I can't comment.

All, I'm not here to debate whether it's worth or worthless... But IMHO, if
someone just need a phone for a limited use with talk back and below 4000
INR, this is not a bad deal. I never said it's fantastic phone either.

Thanks,
Srini

Re: [Mobile.AI] Listening to youtube without vidio on IPhone 5S.

2015-03-30 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
That's correct. But I don't think any app would let you watch without data
usage. Either you need to use your data plan for viewing or downloading. I
just looked up on Yusic on app store and it appears to me that it's free
for only one playlist.

Advantage of Add to offline is that perhaps you can add to offline while
you are wi-fi (may be at your home) and can view the video on the move so
that you could save on 3G.

Thanks,
Srini

Well. As the price is low, it may not have all the functionality. For someone
who just need functionality of making calls and a bit of SMS, above features
wouldn't be needed.

Hello Moderator,
Trying to turn this business thread into an useful discussion.

Madhuri,
Do you also ensure accessibility for the products you develop? If so, do send
us your sample work that meets accessibility standards. If not, do some
research on accessibility of apps and should you have any questions retaliated
to mobile accessibility, do post here...

BTW, this is not a forum to post just marketing spam!

Suraj,

1. Only way I could think is go to Settings and look for Siri. If its exist
then you have 4S else 4
2. Not sure but please check on apple is.com
3. Open phone menu, you will see logs of dialed, received and missed calls.
Double tap on the contact or number to dial

Hope this helps.

Yes, accessibility wise, it would be same for both the phones as they run

Re: [Mobile.AI] Got my iPhone 5! What next?

2013-03-07 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Hey Atul,
Congratulations on becoming owner of iPhone!! Have you created an apple
account yet? If not, create one that lets you install apps via app store.
Just based on your needs like finance, etc, you can search for apps and
install, they get added to your home screen. Double tap on an app will
activate the app for you to explore. Alternatively you can explore list of
apps by choosing a category e.g. Productivity, business, fun etc. If you
wish to have a look at some podcasts and list of accessible apps, please
visit http://www.applevis.com/

Hope this helps. Good luck,

Re: [Mobile.AI] need advice on buying a smart phone -IPhone or Samsung

2013-01-15 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Nikita,
I use an iPhone 4S and with iPhone 4S, the difference from iPhone 4 is that
it has support for Siri; where you can ask a question to your phone and you
get an answer; You mamy ask something like "What's the time?" or "What is
local weather?" etc. I think, the other difference between all these phones
is hard ware and iPhone 5 is the latest from Apple.

As far as use with VoiceOver is concerned, you should be comfortable once
you are used to; YOu don't think, there will be slow down for us to use
computer with a screen reader as compared to a sighted user, right? So it's
same way for phone too. I know a lot of totally blind people who use touch
devices quite well. Even, they do a lot of emailing, surfing etc.

Fleksy is an app that makes your life easy for typing. it does have a
prediction capability.

As far learning time, it depends on your aptitude, if you decide to learn
it quickly, you will be able to learn fast, otherwise, it can take years,
it depends on you. One website that can come handy is
http://applevis.comthat has a lot of resources for blind and visually
impaired iOS users.

Hope this helps,
-Srini

Re: [Mobile.AI] new google maps accessibility:

2012-12-14 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Hi Srikanth and others,
Yes, Accessibility of Google maps on iOS is not bad though it can be
improved. Specially, it needs to improve the labels for buttons, for
example there is visually a "Start" button and VoiceOver reads it as
"Action for results button"

I tried locating a milk factory in my area and when I hit search I had to
hit on results button and then it showed me turn by turn direction. By
default it shows up map view but list view is fairly good.

I am yet to test to see if there voice navigation etc. But it's certainly
better than having no date like iOS maps. (smile)

Cheers,
-Vasu
