[Mobile.AI] Sony SmartWatch 3 review

2015-02-11 Thread timy sebastian

- Built-in GPS- Pixel-packed display- Decent battery life
Sony SmartWatch 3 is Sony's third smartwatch and the company's first
Android Wear wearable. At the moment, it's the only device on the
platform that comes with features such as a built-in GPS receiver,
making it attractive for people who're into outdoor activities like
running and cycling. Is the Sony SmartWatch 3 the perfect Android Wear
watch we've been waiting for? We try to find out in our review...

*Look and feel*
The Sony SmartWatch 3 looks more like a fitness tracker than a premium
watch. If you're fashion conscious and are looking for a stylish
smartwatch than the watch's design won't really appeal to you. It's not
really discreet and doesn't look like conventional wrist watches because
of the broad wrist band.

Having said that, the SmartWatch 3 has a soft, rubber strap which is
flexible and comfortable to wear. It can be adjusted to fit all wrist
sizes and the metal clasp makes it easy to wear.

Although the watch's combined weight(with the strap) is close to
66grams, we didn't experience any issues while wearing it for longer
periods.

Sony SmartWatch 3 is dust and water resistant (IP68) and can withstand
up to 4.9feet of water for 30 minutes.

Unlike the LG G Watch, this watch has a hardware button to put the watch
to sleep mode or wake it up. Long pressing the button initiates the
Settings menu. The metallic button has good tactile feedback. We feel
it's a good decision on Sony's part even though the watch's screen is
touch enabled.

Interestingly, you can easily take the watch out of the strap without
needing any tools. In fact, you may remove it every time you charge the
watch. Coming to the charging part, unlike other Android Wear
smartwatches, you don't need any additional accessory to charge the
watch. The watch has a micro-USB port at the back, protected by a flap
(for water resistance), through which you can simply plug in any USB
charging cable. It's a big plus since you don't need to worry about
losing cradles or carrying them around.

Sony SmartWatch 3 sports a 1.6-inch Transflective display with a
resolution of 320x320pixel. While the watch's display is pixel packed
and even offers good outdoor legibility, it looks a little dull compared
to the Moto 360's display. We did not encounter any problems while
reading text on the display.

*Hardware*
Sony SmartWatch 3 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM A7 processor and
512MB RAM and comes with 4GB internal storage. The watch comes with
ambient light sensors, an accelerometer, compass, gyro and GPS sensors.
In terms of connectivity, it supports a wide range of options including
Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and Wi-Fi (according to a number of reports). The
SmartWatch 3 is powered by a 420mAh battery.

*Using the SmartWatch 3*
It's worth pointing out that you need to connect the watch with an
Android 4.3 or above smartphone via Bluetooth. You need Android Wear app
to connect the watch and Sony's Lifelog app to track your activity,
sleep and smartphone use.

The watch runs Android Wear 5.0.1 Lollipop, the latest build of the OS.
You can access the menu and navigate through the different apps and
functions through the touch display or make use of voice commands (the
watch has a microphone). The "Ok Google" command can help you give
instructions to the watch to send text messages, set a reminder, check
the weather, track your heart rate, open an app, control music or ask
for directions.

Voice recognition was iffy and at most times we had difficulty invoking
the voice command prompt. However, voice commands work for offline
features work even if the watch is not connected to the internet.

The watch also offers notifications for calls, emails, messages, traffic
alerts and other Google Now-based contextual updates. It is equipped
with a pedometer but lacks an optical heart rate monitor.

The new software comes with additional options to mute non-priority
notifications and turn on theatre mode to mute all notifications. You
can access these by swiping down on the screen. You can now download and
install third party watch faces from the Play Store and set them as
default. The watch also now supports music storage and playback (without
the need to connect to a phone) but you'll need a US Google Play Music
account and subscription to sync music with the watch.

The watch's major highlight is its built-in GPS receiver that
facilitates the use of activity tracking apps without the need to
connect to the smartphone. This means that you can leave your phone at
home and just wear the watch when you go out for a run. We tried the
feature with apps like RunKeeper and Google's Fit app and found it
worked without any problems. Not many apps support this functionality
though. We wish native apps like Google Maps support the feature in the
future.

[Mobile.AI] Sony Xperia Z2, powerful, intuitive and suitable for blind persons

2014-10-16 Thread timy sebastian

Thursday, 14 August, 2014
*By Amóvil*

The Xperia Z2 in black

The Xperia Z2, Sony's latest flagship, is a powerful and intuitive
smartphone that runs on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat). This handset includes
accessibility features that render it suitable for users with visual and
hearing disabilities. However, it may not be adequate for persons with
dexterity disabilities and/or with poor comprehension skills. Amóvil was
able to review this device thanks to a loan by Orange.

The phone that measures 146.8 x 73.3 x 82.2 mm and weighs 163 grams, has
a design similar to previous Xperia Z models. It comes with a 5.2-inch
IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The handset is IP58
certified for protection against dust and water to as deep as one meter
and up to 30 minutes.

The Xperia Z2 also includes a 20.7 MP primary camera with autofocus and
flash LED, and a 2.2 MP secondary camera for videocalls. Regarding
connectivity it includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct. It also
supports GPS and 4G data network.

   Accessibility review

 Vision

As previously mentioned the Xperia Z2 is suitable for blind users. The
device comes with a version of TalkBack that reads these users through
most of the visual content available in the display. However, as
observed in other Android models, it is unable to identify a few minor
elements in native apps, such as the calendar, probably due to lack of
proper labeling.

Persons with low vision will also be able to use this smartphone with
some comfort. It is equipped with an inbuilt screen magnifier and allows
changing both the size of the text and the screen brightness. However,
customizing color contrast or reversing the colors of background and
foreground is not possible in this device.

 Hearing

The Xperia Z2 is hearing aid compatible (HAC rating, M3/T3). It also
includes features that may contribute to enhance these users'
experience, such as a basic sound equalizer, a background to cancel
background noise and an option to slow the speech of the other calling
party to improve intelligibility. The device also supports text
messaging, chats and video calls.

 Dexterity

Persons with dexterity disabilities may have a limited experience with
this handset. Although it comes with voice recognition system that works
rather well, it is not possible to reproduce the function of side
buttons from the display. Thus, users with severe dexterity issues may
be unable to handle this phone using assistive devices such as mouth
sticks or head wands.

The Z2 may also be unsuitable for users with mild dexterity
disabilities. Because it is dust and water resistant, cable slot come
sealed rendering hard to manipulate to these users, particularly to
those with little strength or tremors in the upper limbs.

 Comprehension

The Xperia Z2 is unsuitable to users with poor comprehension skills. The
display includes icons with a design that is hard to identify and that
do not comply with accessibility standards.

However, this device includes an app that may improve the experience of
these users. This app has been designed to guide them through the entire
configuration process. It has been written in a simple and easy to
understand language. Also, menus can be customized to meet these users'
needs.

For more information about accessibility in Xperia Z2, please consult
the full accessibility report

available in Amóvil.

[Mobile.AI] First Impressions: Micromax Canvas A1 Android One smartphone

2014-09-15 Thread timy sebastian

Sep 16, 2014, 08.00AM IST TOI Tech[ Anupam Saxena ]

Micromax Canvas A1 is the most expensive of the lot, priced at Rs 6,499.
Here's what we feel about the phone...
NEW DELHI: Google has finally launched the first set of Android One
smartphones that are powered by reference design hardware and closely
integrated, standardized, stock-Android UI. While there's not much
differentiation in terms of the internals, the phones, made in
collaboration with three Indian vendors - Spice, Karbonn and Micromax,
look and feel slightly different.

Micromax Canvas A1 is the most expensive of the lot, priced at Rs 6,499.
Here's what we feel about the phone...

Micromax Canvas A1 looks very similar to Android One phones made by
Spice and Karbonn except for a few minor aesthetic differences. The
basic design philosophy and build quality of the three phones is consistent.

Made of plastic, the phones bear a simple, utilitarian look and the
focus is on making the device durable and good to hold with soft rounded
corners and edges.

The front of the phone features black plastic bezel that sports a glossy
finish and a 4.5-inch FWVGA(480x854p) IPS display. The Canvas A1 is the
first Micromax Android phone to come without any hardware capacitive
keys for navigation. The front panel also features a 2MP front camera
and a round earpiece.

The soft, plastic keys for volume control and power are located at the
right edge and offer good tactile feedback. The bottom edge sports the
micro-USB port while the 3.5mm headset jack sits at the top.

The back features a removable plastic back cover that sports a soft
touch, rubberised, matte finish. The phone feels good to hold and there
were no squeaks and wobbles.

The back is also where Micromax differentiates the phone with its own
branding and a protruding, circular, metallic ring that houses the
phone's 5MP rear camera and LED flash. The ring has a dark,
brushed-metal finish though the finish could have been better. A small,
round speaker opening and the Android One branding is also present at
the back.

The back cover hides two micro-sim slots, a hot-swappable microSD card
and a removable, 1700mAh battery.

The 4.5-inch display offers good viewing angles and decent sunlight
legibility. However, we found it a little prone to smudges. Also, while
the low display resolution doesn't stick out due to the comparatively
smaller screen size, the experience is not as good when compared to the
720p display of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, which is priced at Rs 5,999.

In terms of hardware, the phone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek
quad-core processor, Mali-400MP graphics and 1GB RAM. The phone has 4GB
internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to
32GB capacity. Out of 4GB, 2.27GB is available to the user.

The phone runs a near-stock version of Android 4.4 KitKat with a few
non-removable preloaded apps that include Amazon, Hike, M!Live, and
AskMe. The phone comes with the Google Camera app and we could not take
pictures as the app refused to activate the shutter without an external
storage source. We'll have a detailed look at the camera in our full review.

We'll have to say the phone is one of the smoothest ones available at
this price. Also, it won't be wrong to say that it's the best
entry-level Micromax phone we've used ever. We'll have to see how it
fares with multiple apps running in the background and games.

Is the Micromax Canvas A1 Android One phone capable of usurping Xiaomi
Redmi 1S from its throne? You'll need to wait for our full review to
find that out.

2014-09-03 Thread timy sebastian
Dear friend, according to my experience mycromax some of the phones are
not a good option for VI.
in my case iam using mycromax a121, androyed version 4.3 jellybean, but
some of the options are missing under accessibility, such as,
accessibility shortcut, end call with power button etc.

If this is the case with this model, what about other mycromax model,
I wonder?

it includes, 4 gb internal storage, up to 32 gb memmory card support,
but missing these important funtions means, no use of VI.

Thanks in advance,

Timy.

The wait for the sequels to leading flagship handsets is over. With HTC
releasing the One Max and Samsung releasing the Note 3, how could Sony
stay behind? It has put its own player in the ring - the Sony Xperia Z1,
which picks up the mantle from the Xperia Z
. Read on our Sony Xperia
Z1 review and find out how it fares.

Sony Xperia Z1 53

The Xperia Z had some awesome features in tow, besides being waterproof
and shockproof, which has become the mark of the Xperia Z series. It
beat the pants out of stalwarts such as the HTC One, with its 1080p
screen, powerful processor and a 13-megapixel camera.

Sony Xperia Z1 52

The Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to do even better - the highlight of
this device is a 20.7-megapixel camera on-board. But that's hardly the
whole story. (It never is)

The Xperia Z1 is a premium handset - at a price of 40K it cannot be much
else. Or can it? Lets dig in.

   Design

As soon as you get your hands on the Xperia Z1, it will remind you of
the Xperia Z handset. It has basically the same form factor, which is
a travesty, if you look at its bigger sibling the Xperia Z Ultra - it is
not too thick, but since it supersedes that device, we were expecting
something more from the form factor.

Sony Xperia Z1 56 Sony Xperia Z1 57

The front is flanked by 5-inch screen, with not too thin a bezel. The
screen is 1080p, and generally has a good feel but nothing
extraordinary. At the bottom there are three Android capacitive buttons
for home, back and recent apps.

Sony Xperia Z1 58

The glass finish around the phone lets you feel great whether it be the
front or the back, but also makes it a little glossy, very reflective,
scratchy and smudgy too, but that wouldn't let you keep your hands off
it - the handset is smooth as silk.

The edges meanwhile are made to be a little thick for shock absorption
purposes. This is the one part that will hold together the phone and
protect the glass from scratching.

But, to its credit, the handset fits nicely in your palm. Like the rest
of the Xperia Z range, it has a power button and volume rocker on the
right, alongside a dedicated camera button.

Sony Xperia Z1 47 Sony Xperia Z1 48

The top of the handset comprises of the 3.5mm audio jack, while the
bottom boasts of a speaker.

Sony Xperia Z1 55

Sony Xperia Z1 54

The handset has covered slots to maintain the water resistance - these
include the SIM slot with a pull-out SIM tray on the right and the
MicroSD and USB slots on the left. There is also an infrared blaster
that comes in handy when you want to use the phone as a remote.

The back of the handset has just one highlight the 20.7-megapixel camera
with a g-sensor. Its actually the best part of the handset and you can
keep running your fingers over it for the premium feel.

Overall, the 5-inch Sony Xperia Z1 is designed for comfortable one hands
usage. Something, that we would want in this device is
scratch-resistance, since, the fragility kind of kills the buzz of the
handset.

   Display

Sony Xperia Z1 51 Sony Xperia Z1 50 Sony Xperia Z1 49

The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with a 1080p screen with a 441ppi pixel
density. While th handset could beat the pants out of most displays out
there, we kind of think that the GPU lets it down a little bit. The
screen is a little too glossy and gets a little too smudgy most of the time.

   Android and UI

While the handset comes out of the box with Android 4.2.1, we received
an Android 4.2.2 upgrade and were quick to jump on it.

Sony Xperia Z1 1

Sony has put in almost all the stuff it has in the other devices from
the range such as the Xperia Z tablet and Xperia Z Ultra. Sometimes, and
just sometimes, you will feel the dearth of simplicity though since
Sony has put in a lot of stuff. Every little detail is taken care of and
every feature, every menu and every shortcut is well animated and
accessible adding to the premium feel of the handset.

Sony Xperia Z1 2

Sony has put in custom skins which add to the f

[Mobile.AI] Sony Xperia Z2 release date, news and features | | and much more!!!!!

2014-03-10 Thread timy sebastian ettumanoor
Sony is once again bigging up its own technologies in the Z2, just as it
did with the Z1. The "best of Sony in a smartphone" tagline was again
used in the press conference at MWC.

Compare Sony's product cycle to the likes of Samsung or Apple - where we
see an annual reboot of flagships such as the Galaxy S4
 and
iPhone 5S and,
while the cadence is quicker, you can start to see what the company is
doing. After all, Sony knows it has some catching up to do in the market.

 * Check out our Hands on: Sony Xperia Z2 review

*Cut to the chase*
*What is it?* Sony's next flagship, the follow up to the Xperia Z1
*When is it out?* 1st April 2014
*What will it cost?* £545

In the UK the Xperia Z2 is up for pre-order for a whopping £599 SIM free
on Sony's site, while in Australia it's about AU$899.95 and the in the
US you're looking at around $600.

The Xperia Z2's global release date is April 2014 and the handset has
been announced on UK networks O2, Three, Vodafone and EE as well as by
retailers such as Carphone Warehouse.

 Xperia Z2 specifications

The Sony Xperia Z2 includes Sony Digital Noise Cancelling -- a first in
a phone -- and as is becoming the norm for Sony, it's waterproof as well.

The handset is one of the first to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon
801 processor and it boasts four 2.3GHz Krait CPUs in addition to 4G
LTE, 3GB of RAM and a high capacity 3,200mAh battery, which in
combination with Sony's Battery STAMINA mode should keep it going for
quite some time.

Sony Z2

On the storage front there's 16GB built in along with a microSD card
slot which supports cards of up to 64GB.

As you might expect from any worthwhile new flagship phone, it's also
running Android KitKat
.

That all makes it a moderate upgrade over the Sony Xperia Z1, which has
a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.

 Xperia Z2 camera and audio

The Z2's key technology sell is the ability to shoot 4K video, so that's
four times the pixels of HD and twice the resolution at - 3,840 x 2,160
pixels at 30fps.

The camera is a 20.7MP unit, with the mobile version of the proven Exmor
RS image sensor and Bionz processing engine alongside Sony's G Lens.
Using built in apps, you can also shoot Timeshift video, while there's
also an AR app, too.

The Timeshift video mode lets you shoot in 120 frames per second and
select individual scenes to slow playback.

Xperia Z2 camera

Another new app enables you to defocus the background and adapt a
shallow depth of field -- you can capture two photos at different focus
settings and blend them together.

Backing up the main camera there's a 2.2MP snapper on the front which
can shoot 1080p video at 30fps.

Sadly there's no optical image stabilization, but the Xperia Z2 does
have SteadyShot digital image stabilization, which similarly aims to
counter camera shake.

You can also buy an additional STM10 stereo microphone should you need
enhanced sound quality for shooting 4K video.

Sony Xperia Z2

Speaking of sound, Sony's put the speakers on the front of the handset
this time around, aiming to muscle in on the HTC One
's territory with
what it's calling S-Force Front Surround.

Sony's MDR NC31EM noise cancelling headset comes bundled with the
handset and unfortunately you have to use this specific headset if you
want to take advantage of the fancy noise cancelling features of the phone.

 Xperia Z2 display

The 5.2-inch IPS LCD Triluminos display is Full HD 1080 x 1920 with a
pixel density of 424 pixels per inch. The Xperia Z2 uses Sony's
X-Reality technology, to optimize colors, contrast and sharpness while
reducing noise.

Sony is also claiming it has the best color reproduction of any
smartphone on the market with its Live Color LED tech.

Xperia Z2 screen

Our full review will put that claim to the test, but it's certainly an
impressive display, particularly in comparison to the Z1, which looks
washed out and lacking in detail when put side by side with this.

 Xperia Z2 design

At 8.2mm thick and 163g, the Z2 is 0.3mm thinner than the Sony Xperia Z1
and 7g lighter, despite having a larger screen and more powerful innards.

It's an evolution of the same aluminum design, which Sony calls
OmniBalance.

Xperia Z2

In fact it looks almost identical to the Xperia Z1, with the same metal
edging, glass back and large bezels above and below the screen.

Like the Z1 it's also dust resistant and waterproof to IP55 & IP58
standards, allowing it to be submerged for up to 30 minutes in water 1
meter deep.

 Xperia Z2 interface and features

The Xperia Z2's interface is similar to that of the Z1, though it comes
with Android 4.4.2 KitKat so it's bang up to date.

The handset also has a few new features hidden away in its menus.
There's 'Smart Backlight Control' for one, which will keep the screen on
while you're looking at it, just like Samsung does with Smart Stay.

Then there's the ability to

Part I: Basic Features

 Introduction

for years now, I have been exploring the depths of an ever changing
mobile world, continueing to adapt with the pace as quickly as possible.
After Windows Mobile was slashed in 2010, the two remaining players for
the blind became Android and iOS. Nokia also abandoned its operating
system a year later; therefore the remaining options were based off
these touchscreen platforms. Unlike earlier days, both offered a greater
degree of hope and promise. iOS began including VoiceOver, their screen
reader starting with the iPhone 3GS and iOS 3.0. Android, meanwhile,
started working on a screen reader called Talkback, which provided basic
abilities, making Android 1.6 and above usable. At the time, this was
limited to only the physical keyboard, and many found it a very cobbled
together solution which gave terrible access to the screen. Fast forward
to today, and we have a completely different outlook on the
accessibility of mainstream technologies. Before we dive in to how these
platforms compare to each other from an objective standpoint - that is,
from the view that neither is better than the other - I must point out
some of my background with experiencing both. I feel as though I can
provide a non-judgmental view in my article here, and it is important
that this connection is made with you, the reader, and prior to starting
the process.

My Background in the World of modern Smartphones

I first began using Android in late 2010, when there was an opportunity
to run it on my HTC Touch Pro 2 as a hacked-on solution. Since the phone
ran Windows Mobile, this was far from the experience you would get on a
regular device. With my friend Leo, we were able to create an image
which came up talking from the beginning, and I distributed this in some
places for others to try. This gave me access to Talkback and Spiel (a
second screen reader) running on Android 2.2. Compared to Windows
Mobile, I was amazed to how much more I could do with a smartphone, and
I even dared to use it as a daily operating system. In February 2011,
Verizon and Apple released the iPhone 4 on their network. This opened up
the door to upgrade my two year contract with the same unlimited data
plan I had from Windows Mobile to something different and stock. I used
the iPhone up until October of that year, and adapted very well to the
environment of only touch. Android was placed on the backburner, but I
still wanted to try and experience Google's offerings from a dedicated
device.

That's how the Droid 2 came into play, both in my life and as part of my
Play store account. Pun intended there! I purchased it used for $250 on
EBay, and decided to switch to it as a full-time operating system. Back
when Gingerbread was rampant across the OS, but right before IceCream
Sandwich (Android 4.0) was released. I came just in time for a highly
experimental expedition: Only 3 months after I got my phone, some
hackers on a forum called XDA-Developers were able to create a working
copy of Icecream Sandwich for that phone. With a little help and skill,
I was up and running Google's latest sweetness on my Droid 2 Global.
This release, for the first time, allowed the use of touch screens,
providing me with a direct line of comparison between the iPhone I still
had and what was new at the time. I switched back and forth between
Android and Apple as often as a Dos user would go from Windows back to
MS Dos. My use of the iPhone for almost a year meant that I loved the
simplicity of the platform, yet my tinkering side did not let me put
down the Android phone, which gave a large degree of customization
iPhone users could only dream of. Even with jailbreaks, iOS users could
only do so much, which did not include modifying the core OS running on
their devices with the use of custom roms.

I upgraded to a Droid 4 in September 2012, knowing that Jellybean was a
huge improvement in the way blind people could use their phones. It
introduced such things as swiping between items, double tapping them
just like on an iPhone, and finally, Braille displays became an option.
I decided that giving the latest Android release a try was important.
Again, I turned to the XDA community, and sure enough, within 3 months
of having my new phone, the option to run Google's latest 4.2 OS became
a reality.

Now, I am back to an iPhone once more. I sold my Android phone, choosing
to leave my Nexus 7 Android tablet for a way to test anything new that
might happen on the other side. Using an iPhone 5 has truly allowed me
to gain a greater understanding towards how both Google and Apple
operate, and what they can both offer on the table in terms

[Mobile.AI] VoiceOver saved in Apple, Samsung !!!!!!!!!!!!!patent

2013-10-08 Thread timy sebastian ettumanoor

hai dear friends sharing an intresting news which I got from internet.

Thursday, 07 March 2013 2:29pm

Apple's screen reader VoiceOver has been saved from being removed from
Apple devices, after a German court ruled against Samsung's claim that
VoiceOver
breached one of its patents. The ruling comes as a relief to the blind
and vision impaired community.

VoiceOver is an assistive tool that interprets text on screen and
delivers this information back to the user in audible form. This enables
blind users
to navigate and access apps on their device. When VoiceOver was first
introduced in iOS devices in 2009, it became an affordable alternative
to other commercial

screen readers.

Over the years, improvements to this text-to-speech technology have been
introduced. Currently, VoiceOver even allows blind users to take photos. As

Greg's Tech Blog
points out, VoiceOver has become "intelligent enough to help blind users
take photographs by identifying the faces on the screen and their
location in

the frame".

According to Samsung's lawyers, VoiceOver breaches a patent that allows
a text-to-speech feature to be activated through the press of a button.
If Samsung's
claim had succeeded, VoiceOver could have been removed from all Apple
iOS devices including the iPhone and iPad.

The case sparked widespread expressions of support for Apple by the
blind and vision impaired community and advocacy organisations. Speaking to

Ability Magazine,
a spokesperson for the British Computer Society for the Blind said, "If
something as important as access to telephone technology had been
blocked by the
actions of one company over another the consequences for blind people
everywhere would be regrettable in the extreme."

When Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs passed away in 2011, US blind
advocacy group the National Federation of the Blind released a statement
expressing
the significance of Apple's accessibility to the blind and vision
impaired community.

Dr Marc Maurer, President of the USA’s National Federation of the Blind,
said in the

statement:
“Mr Jobs demonstrated tremendous vision in leadership in many ways, one
of which is the incorporation of access for the blind and others with
disabilities

into the design of Apple’s groundbreaking product line.

“Virtually no other manufacturer of mainstream consumer technology has
done more to build accessibility into its products than Apple has under
Mr. Jobs’s

leadership."

Samsung and Apple, the two largest smartphone manufacturers in the
world, are involved in a number of patent cases against one another in
courts around

the world.

Re: [Mobile.AI] Starting with my first iPhone?

2013-06-03 Thread timy sebastian ettumanoor

hai dear friend!!! this information I got from internet, please read it

20 Quick Tips to get you Started with your First iPhone!

Number one rule: your iPhone with VoiceOver running will operate
differently to standard iPhone gestures. In addition, VoiceOver will
speak some items as "real" words when in reality on the screen they may
be just symbols. So just take this in to account when getting assistance
from sighted friends and family, and listen to what VoiceOver is saying.

1. Turning iPhone on: hold down power button (top right) for 2 seconds
and release. Takes about 15 seconds for the unlock screen to appear.
VoiceOver announces time. Screen will lock after 10 seconds if the
   screen is not touched.
2. Unlocking the iPhone from the unlock screen: press the Power button
(top right or the Home button bottom middle). VoiceOver announces
the time. Drag 1 finger up from the Home button (bottom middle) just
a little. VoiceOver announces "Slide to unlock" and "Slide or double
tap" (2nd message is the VoiceOver hint). 1 finger double tap
anywhere on the screen to unlock (you don't need to drag your
finger). If screen not touched for 15 seconds, screen will lock.
When screen unlocked, you are at the Home screen with rows of apps,
and the Status menu at the top.
3. Basic VoiceOver navigation of the Main Home screen: 1 finger drag
around screen to here what is under your finger or 1 finger flick
left or right to move item by item left or right around the screen.
1 finger double tap to activate the item you wish to use. 1 finger
flick left or right will only move you between the items on the main
screen, it will not access the Status menu (see next point), but
dragging 1 finger will. The first row of icons on the main Home
screen are: Messages, Calendar, Photos, and Camera, with further
rows of icons (apps) below this. At the bottom (of all Home
screens), you have 4 apps (icons): Phone, Mail, Safari (web
   browser), and Music.
4. Accessing Status menu: locate the Speaker grill just below the top
edge of the iPhone, and drag 1 finger down just a little. .
VoiceOver will announce an item on the Status menu, followed by the
announcement "Status bar item" and "Swipe down with three fingers to
reveal the Notification centre" (second message is the VoiceOver
hint). Once in the Status menu, you can 1 finger flick left or right
to move left or right to the items in the Status menu: eg signal
strength, time, battery status etc. 1 finger drag or touch anywhere
on the screen to take VoiceOver out of the Status menu.
5. Practising VoiceOver gestures: VoiceOver itself has a practise mode
(much like keyboard practise on desktop screen readers) where you
can practise all the gestures with out them actually doing anything
besides speaking their function: To do this: Settings, General,
Accessibility, VoiceOver, VoiceOver Practise, and try out a few of
the gestures in this document. Press the Home button (bottom middle)
to return to the Main Home screen. Remember, you can navigate to all
of these items by 1 finger drag or flick left or right to locate
each item, and then a 1 finger double tap to select an item. Tip:
touching the screen with 4 fingers at the top will jump the
voiceOver focus to the top most item on the screen which in the
Setting screens is the Back button to go back a screen, 1 finger
double tap as usual to activate this if you wish to go back a
screen, and of course, 4 finger touch at the bottom of the screen
moves the VoiceOver focus to the last item on the screen.
6. Adjusting the volume of VoiceOver: VoiceOver volume is adjusted by
using the Volume up and Volume down buttons on the left hand side of
the iPhone just below the top left hand edge and below the
sleep/wake switch whilst VoiceOver is talking. Two finger flick up
will start VoiceOver talking from the top of the screen, whilst
talking, press the Volume up or Volume down buttons to control the
volume of VoiceOver. When finished, a two finger touch on the screen
will stop VoiceOver talking (which can be used any time to silence
   VoiceOver).
7. Silencing the iPhone: To silence the iPhone, locate the silence/wake
switch on the top left edge of the iPhone just below the top.
Flicking the switch down towards the back of the iPhone will silence
the iPhone (you will feel the iPhone vibrate). Rather than ringing,
the iPhone will now vibrate. Flicking the switch up towards the
front face of the iPhone, will put it back in normal operation. When
in Silent mode, you will not hear any sounds that VoiceOver makes
when your touching the the screen (but it will keep talking).
8. Answering and hanging up a call: 2 finger double tap anywhere on the
screen will answer a call. 2 finger double tap anywhere on the
screen whilst on a call, will hang up the call. When not answering

Re: [Mobile.AI] All order cancellations

2013-04-17 Thread timy sebastian ettumanoor

hai dear friends! after reading these mails, thought write something.

well, anyone knows this kiran and his persian technolagy personally, out
of this mailing list??

 is he blind??

I don't no anything about him, thatway I asked.

we know about saksham, karishma enterprises, RNIB etc etc.

anyone purchased anything before this persian technolagy??

I think no.

sad to say that, the purchased people are in big trouble.

surely this is a big lesson to our visually impaired community, without
knowing the reputation of the person or company don't purchase anything
from him or the respective company.

personally I don't like any blind person cheated by anyone, thatsway
thought to reply.

sorry If i have hurted any of them's feelings.

take care.

with regards your friend,

Timy.
