Very well answered mail.I have almost made up my mind of going for spice dream Uno so just have 2-3 points: * I have never shopped through FlipKart so will it be wise to go for buying through website, is it safe? * If Android L isdown the line , should I wait for another 10 days till it gets launch or it doesn't make a difference if I buy it now and later update to Android L. * Should I wait for LtE facility? Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone hi first question. will spice get android update free? ans. as android is a free open source os all phones get updates free of charge the only question is when will they get updated some phones like nexus and moto and spice and all android 1 phones get updates before any phones. so the symple answer is. yes spice and all phones will get android l update before moto g and moto e phones around 12 to 15 november. we would have got the update before but it got delaied cause of a wifi bug in final preview build. in nexus phones which drained the battery. now second question. * Stock android, we get the option of google keyboard which is 100% accessible, does it mean it is build in phone or I need to buy external google keyboard to use? google keyboard is nothing but a software keyboard and not a external hard ware keyboard it looks exectly like a computer keyboard this keyboard comes with the phone and u will only need to update it from the playstore. so no need to purchase any external keyboard. people purchase external hardware bluetooth keyboards but i would consider it as a waste to do this if your on stock android u just need to learn. one more point although u didnt ask. if u have never used a touch screen phone and if u take a touch screen phone in your hand u will feal that u will not be able to use this phone. dont worry even i felt like that u just need to learn and dont take tention i would also suggest for all the new people learning android. go to settings accessability then talkback and then to talkback settings. in that there is 1 option use single tap to select experimentel this option is enabled by default which means if u just single tap on any option it will open u need to disible this till u learn properly On 11/6/14, Archana Bhatia wrote: > Few points: > * Moto g will get next upgrade of Android L by Dec as free, what > about spice dream uno, will spice also get the next update free? > * Stock android, we get the option of google keyboard which is 100% > accessible, does it mean it is build in phone or I need to buy > external google keyboard to use? > Sorry for asking such beginner questions. > Regards > Archana > > > -Original Message- > From: Mobile.accessindia > [mailto:mobile.accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of > Austin Pinto > Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2014 9:06 AM > To: Dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile > phones and Tabs. > Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone > > ok doing it in reverce order hear. > 1. stock android and android are the same the only difference in it is > that people like samsung modify the android by putting things like > touch viz ui htc puts there sence ui but stock android is unmodified > untouched version of android which is released as google designs it. > 2. moto g second gen costs 12990 and runs stock android 4.4.4 and will > get upgrade to android l by december. > if u go for stock android u will get google keyboard which is 100% > accessable there will be no problem to send sms and all u need to > practice typing i learned everything in a day by listening to podcasts > and with all of the help from mailing lists so there is no problem to > go for android it will be best to go for a unmodified android for the > first time till u learn how to use it > > On 11/5/14, Archana Bhatia wrote: >> Hi, >> Thanks for quick reply. hi first question. will spice get android update free? ans. as android is a free open source os all phones get updates free of charge the only question is when will they get updated some phones like nexus and moto and spice and all android 1 phones get updates before any phones. so the symple answer is. yes spice and all phones will get android l update before moto g and moto e phones around 12 to 15 november. we would have got the update before but it got delaied cause of a wifi bug in final preview build. in nexus phones which drained the battery. now second question. Few points: * Moto g will get next upgrade of Android L by Dec as free, what about spice dream uno, will spice also get the next update free? * Stock android, we get the option of google keyboard which is 100% accessible, does it mean it is build in phone or I need to buy external google keyboard to use? Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
Hi, But be informed, that people (including me) are suggesting an inexpensive phone to start with so that you get a hang of touch screen and Android. Once you get comfortable, get the Necsus 6 or any high end device of your choice, preferably running touchwiz or stock Android (for optimum accessibility). Go for any Android phone to begin with, because now that I think of it, there is a great different in price of Android One vs Moto G second gen, while not much difference in performance. I had picked up the Moto G second gen, but don't regret the choice either, its a nice phone, currently I can call myself a pretty basic user, and it serves me very well. Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
Hi, Learning to type totally depends on your practice and dedication. One opinion from my personal experience: Even if you have somewhat eyesight left, Better preserve it for watching photos or videos. If you are using it with a screen reader such as talkback then start using it without looking at it. Believe me, It is possible to use android at all places including parties without any issues at all. Only if you carry headphones with yourself. I can even use it while walking with my white cane. Will say it again, Screen readers are best learnt when you don't use your eyesight. hi, LTE stands for long-term evolution. in other words, it is also called 4g services. it drasticly increases the internet speed and improve the voice quality on the mobile networks as wel. as Austin written, stok android is always a best buy as it provides maximum accessibility and faster updates. Samsung also uses such interface that is modified but mostly accessible and useable with talkback. ok doing it in reverce order hear. 1. stock android and android are the same the only difference in it is that people like samsung modify the android by putting things like touch viz ui htc puts there sence ui but stock android is unmodified untouched version of android which is released as google designs it. 2. moto g second gen costs 12990 and runs stock android 4.4.4 and will get upgrade to android l by december. if u go for stock android u will get google keyboard which is 100% accessable there will be no problem to send sms and all u need to practice typing i learned everything in a day by listening to podcasts and with all of the help from mailing lists so there is no problem to go for android it will be best to go for a unmodified android for the first time till u learn how to use it On 11/5/14, Archana Bhatia wrote: > Hi, > Thanks for quick reply. Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
I am using the Moto G second gen device, took me two weeks to learn it, completely accessible because it has stock Android, and as others said, first buy a mid range device to understand and familiarize yourself with Android, then make your real buy. Samsung devices are reputed to be very accessible, and any device running stock Android (including Android One) is bound to be 100% accessible out of the box. Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
Has nexus6 been released? I didn't have any info of its launch. Yes better to go with lower end devices like android 1 or moto g, otherwise u may regret after spending such a huge amount over the phone which you may not like. Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
adding to this, some newer phones from Samsung are also on the way those would have LTE capability as wel. furthermore, the design and specx are also good. the phones are said to be in mid range segment. so wait for few days before you make a buy. Re: [Mobile.AI] Nexus 6 mobile phone
Good u have decided to experience android world. But u are going for nexus 6 as starting point of this jurney! Have u gone through the technical specification of nexus6? Its a high end device, mean a huge device with screen size of 6 inches! It is being manufactured by Motorola itself. Since u have cited iPhone being expensive that's why u want to go for android, but mind it, nexus 6 will cost u more than the iPhone 5s. The starting price of nexus is going to be more than 500 Euros, that will be more than 40,000 rupees. If u want to experience android world not spending much, my advice for you will be for moto g or moto x 2014 editions. Else u may consider Samsung latest device such as galaxy 5s mini or Samsung note3.
