numbers. Hopefully once I finish this other project it could be something I

indeed, the mailing list statistics are created automatically via a
script, so it's no work for me - and they're sent out weekly, Sunday
morning European time.

I think they are quite valueable e.g. for marketing purposes, and I was
asked several times for statistics, I decided to just automate that
process, so everyone can get up to date statistics without me doing
manual work on it.

It can be extended with charts for sure, if someone develops that. Right
now, it's a shell script...

AFAIK, the info in this email is automated. A program picks up the
statistics and sends out an email from Florian's address. So it's no
work for him to provide this info in list form as you see it.

AFAIK, the info in this email is automated. A program picks up the
statistics and sends out an email from Florian's address. So it's no
work for him to provide this info in list form as you see it.

I usually reply in English, telling that this list is in another
language, and point to the right list for his language. I then translate
my English text via Google translate and add it to the reply.

That is trivially achieved by delivering that moderated message to the
mailinglist.
No need for extra notification. When the message is on the list, no
need to moderate it anymore. Also if poster recognizes his mistake of
posting with a non-subscribed address and reposts using a subscribed
one, no need to moderate the message (but in this case a "notifcation

messages to go through for moderators.

See above. And even if they are not subscribed to the list (which
makes very little sense for regular moderators): moderating a message
twice doesn't do any harm. Moderator's job is to verify whether the
mail is authentic and not spam, and for that to decide you don't need
much time.

But to answer your question:
There is no such way. mlmmj is purely mail based, which has its
advantages (like not having to enter passwords for moderation as it is
with Mailman) - but we cannot remove moderation mails sent out once.
However, a double moderation doesn't happen, so if someone moderates a
mail that has been sent out already, nothing happens.

it's a shell script.
What do you mean by a per moderator basis? Mailing moderators
individually with their stats?

I think that doesn't make sense. It takes development work for the
script, plus someone to maintain the list of what to send to whom.
Interested moderators can simply subscribe to this list (which they
should do anyways) and are in the loop...

? Cannot even tell from the mail you forwarded what you mean with this.

> I've forwarded you one example
> mail, where one subscription ID is added to the output...

If you mean the line
/var/spool/mlmmj/zh-tw.libreoffice.org/users/4/0/0 at the bottom, then
this is because there are spurious newlines in the script (I should
have attached it or used shorter lines)

It is not some depth - the 4 and 0 and 0 are the subscription values I
do print them after the path delimited with /, since then the single
seperator is /, thus makes parsing it with awk easier.

 - in your script it is
print
"--[...]"

but it should be
print "---[...]"

The print with no argument doesn't insert an empty line, but just
prints the current inputline, i.e. what is to be parsed/processed by
awk.

Similar error is in the begin block, there you apparently added
another print to insert an empty line (but again without argument -
works here because in begin there is no line read, thus the output is
empty, but still not "nice") before the "table", but now the "-"
is without any print at all.

So instead of the spurious "print ", just use \n in the
statement above and make sure no additional newlines are inserted:

#BEGIN { print "Find below the mailing list statistics for '$(date -I)'"
# print "This e-mail has been automatically generated without human
interaction.\n"
# printf "%40s %8s %8s %8s %8s\n", "Listaddress", "Normal", "Digest",
"Nomail", "Total"
# print
"++++"
#  normal=0;digest=0;  nomail=0 }
#{ printf "%40s %8d %8d %8d %8d\n", $6"@"$5, $7, $8, $9, $7+$8+$9
#  normal+=$7; digest+=$8; nomail+=$9 }
#END { print
"++++"
# printf "%40s %8d %8d %8d %8d\n", "All lists", normal, digest,
nomail, normal+digest+nomail}'

Seperate lines flagged with "#" at the beginning.
Note the additional \n" on the second line to replace the empty
"print" that was there below,
note the additional "print" before the line that prints the
delimiter-lines in the begin block, and also note the removed
linebreak between "print" and "-" in the end-block.
(that print statement was causing the line
/var/spool/mlmmj/zh-tw.libreoffice.org/users/4/0/0 to appear in the
output - that is just the last input line, and as mentioned print
without argument just prints the current input line.

hehe, thanks, this looks much better. My script was really, well...
don't tell anyone. :-) Yours works nearly like a charm, except one issue
- it doesn't seem to limit the depth of scanning. I've forwarded you one
example mail, where one subscription ID is added to the output... I
don't know why, however. /*/* looks good to me, similar to the -mindepth
2 -maxdepth 2 I've added... maybe you have an idea what's wrong?

Apart from that: Thanks a bunch, your output is much nicer!

(in case you're curious: 2>/dev/null just because there is some
spurious "discus" file in /var/spool/mlmmj/sv.libreoffice.org - it
contains a number only, probably created by a bad script? - the output
doesn't hurt when piping stdout to the mail only, but it "pollutes"
console output otherwise :-)

Ooops... indeed, a bug. Removed it. Thanks for noticing!

:-)

Then please replace your ugly hack with this:

for list in /var/spool/mlmmj/*/* ; do
echo $list/$(mlmmj-list -L $list -s -c)/$(mlmmj-list -L $list

it is a *REAL* ugly hack. Have a look at my homedir in bilbo,

invoke it manually at the moment.

Would it possible to modify that script (which one) - to provide a
