[MMouse]: limits/deadline/help!

1999-02-23 Thread Magicbeetl

alright...ive gotten more than twenty emails from kids saying they wanna
contribute to the tape. i think that we need to make a cut-off
point...otherwise theres not gonna be enough room on the tapes.

and are we setting a deadline for when all of the tapes need to be sent?

i also think that there should be a few more people dubbing and sending the
tapes...cos, being a full time college student, i dont have the time to record
and send fifty+ tapes. any volunteers?

Why not? Why can't you listen to music that you enjoy just because
one of the creators [allegedly] raped someone? I can understand not
wanting to purchase future CD's, but I think it would be silly to stop
listening to the ones you have.

i dont' like spreading rumours esp. when they're as serious as this but
i just wanted to put this out for everyone to see, and i'm hoping
someone has more information or wants to discuss it...i have no opinion
yet as to if this is true or not but i'm really hoping it isn't becos
then that means (obviously) that i can't ever listen to modest mouse

[MMouse]: Mouse in Vancouver

1999-02-23 Thread John Tosch

I hit the Saturday Vancouver show at the Starfish room. Good show, actually
one of the best MM shows I've seen in awhile. From what I heard, both shows
sold out. I didn't tape it and didn't check to see if anyone patched into
the board. Isaac started the show by saying "if you want your ass blown
out, then stay in the room." A few songs later he asked if "anyone's ass
was blown out yet?" Standard set list with the new songs "stars are
projectors", "third planet" and "this town is 500 miles underground". Also
a nice Broke, which I hadn't heard in awhile. No Dance Party/Beta Caratene.
Jeremy had a keyboard or drum pads (I couldn't see it) which he noodled on,
to make some cool sounds. I liked it.

That's it, now I have to get ready for Sleater-Kinney and Hovercraft in
Bellingham on Thursday and then two days of Fugazi in Portland and Olympia
over the weekend.

Ted or Eric - are either of you taking your equipment to any of the NW
Fugazi shows? Please email privately if so...

Later,
 Tosch

[MMouse]: new UP

1999-02-23 Thread Jamie Clark

while picking up thie new built to spill today, i stumbled upon the new UP
sampler called 'Next Up'. It's got the DJ Dynamite D Remix of 'Whenever You See
Fit' and 'Grey Ice Water'. They're both available on vinyl, but it's nice to
have them on CD.

the new BtS is great of course.

-Jamie

ps - also if someone is willing to send me 2 'masters' of the tribute tape, i
can run off copies. i have 2 highend/semi pro dubbing decks to preserve the high
q lo-fi. i can also get chrome tapes in bulk locally.

i was trying to help, but i guess i pushed too hard.

Technically, mix tapes are illegal, too. Fight the system, sister.

Hey, folks.

I know the subject is old, but I didn't have the time to answer e-mail
last week (Carnival here in Rio is HELL).

Anyway, about the drugs x music relationship... well, I can't say much for
myself, since I don't do any drugs, and the maximum I'll do is drink
alcoholic stuff. And the music still sounded pretty much the same to me
when I was nearly-drunk. =)

Cheers!

[MMouse]: Vancouver again

1999-02-23 Thread MapleDaisy

Isaac was pretty drunk Friday... he did mention recording then scrapping. He
also mentioned never playing Seattle again because last time they did, he got
shot. I said "You got shot at the Re-Bar?" (which was their last show in
Seattle) then he said "No I was just joking".
Isaac plays with an experimental band called ICU at the 700 Club in Seattle
tonight. Pray he doesn't get shitfaced again.
I also am now the proud owner of their ugly orange buffalo T-shirt, which
prompted me to tell Jeremiah that there is a big need for more T-shirts from
them. This seemed to confuse him... he ran his hands through his hair and
said Ohh uhhh uhh-huhh.
Always a pleasure seeing those boys.

Re: [MMouse]: =tape=

1999-02-23 Thread Slackathon

if we go that way, someone should come up with a flat rate for a bank tape and
basic postage. Actually we shoud probably get an estimate of how many people
woulld want tapes before we start trying to figure out production costs...
