Leno, Conan, et al actually have had many bands on before they ever signed
with a major label. Leno in particular seems to like Matador, and had
Pavement on between the Slanted and Crooked Rain albums. So it's certainly
not out of the realm of possibility.

[MMouse]: savvy?

1999-08-08 Thread Javag369

i didn't believe the silly conan joke, but honestly, thinking that modest
mouse could be on conan has nothing to do with savvy-think about it for
fuck's sake before you go offending people-they signed to epic because
they're tired of washing dishes, etc. (aren't we all) so, the whole epic
thing will help them make more money. i have no problem with that or the fact
that most likely, appearing on tv like that would help promote them and make
even more money. and conan is a perfect show for it-you didn't see built to
spill on leno or letterman, did you? that's all i have to say. this list
thing wears me out.

Re: [MMouse]: sad songs and survey

1999-08-08 Thread Chris Duke

Sad songs..

Does anyone here listen to the Cranes? They have plenty of sad songs, and
all of them are very good. The first song I heard by them was Are You Gone
and it was incredible. The sound of the vocals is sadder to me than the
actual lyrics (which are sad too.) Only in Dreams by Weezer was already
mentioned, but it is one of my favorite sad songs, too. It's a great song
to fall asleep to. Bankrupt on Selling (MM) is moderately sad, but it has
a bit of anger in there, too. I'm sure there are plenty more, but those
are the ones I can think of now.

Here is the survey...

NAME: Christopher Chandler Duke

SEX: male

AGE: 16

PLACE: Atlanta, Georgia

EYE COLOR: It's really weird because it changes. They can be blue, green,
brown, or a mix of all (which is usually the case.)

HAIR COLOR: Black/dark brown

FAVORITE MAGAZINE? Can't afford a subscription

FAVORITE SMELL: People I like. Call me weird but one of the ways I
identify people is natural smell.

WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD: Knowing you have hurt someone without meaning to.

BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD: When someone you love loves you back.

FAVORITE THINGS TO DO ON THE WEEKENDS: Sleep, work on the computer, think
about what I would be doing if I was going out to do stuff.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING? Where
is that snooze button?

DO YOU GET MOTION SICKNESS? Never.

ROLLER COASTERS-DEADLY OR EXCITING? Boring. The lines aren't worth the
ride, and I have an animosity towards the employees of six flags

PEN OR PENCIL? Black fountain pen or mechanical pencil.

HOW MANY RINGS BEFORE YOU ANSWER THE PHONE? Three

FUTURE SON'S NAME: Chandler

DAUGHTERS NAME: Chandler "the girl"

FAVORITE FOOD: Spaghetti with soy meat tomato sauce

DO YOU GET ALONG WELL WITH YOUR PARENT(S): Usually.

CROUTONS OR BACON BITS: Neither, but croutons if I had too. I'm a
vegetarian anyway (although I think some types of bacon bits don't contain
meat.)

DO YOU LIKE TO DRIVE? Yes, when I can get a car.

DO YOU SLEEP WITH STUFFED ANIMALS? No, but sometimes I sleep with my dog.

WHAT TYPE OF CAR WAS YOUR FIRST CAR? I don't own a car, but the one I drive
the most is a camry. Don't know the year.

THUNDERSTORMS COOL OR SCARY? Cool. They are the best when it rains so hard
you can't see anything.

FAVORITE ALCOHOLIC: Poe.

WHAT IS YOUR ZODIAC SIGN? Pisces, but I don't believe in astrology one bit.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE POET? Isaac Brock

DO YOU EAT THE STEMS OF BROCCOLI? No, but I love the flowery part.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE? Yes.

WHAT IS ON YOUR WALLS IN YOUR ROOM: Four swords, a blank corkboard that
covers an entire wall, and an old magic eye that would never work for me.

IS THE GLASS HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL? There is nothing. It is an illusion
of your mind.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SNAPPLE? I have never had any kind of snapple ever.

FAVORITE MOVIE(S)? I don't watch many movies, and when I do, I rarely like
them. When I was a lot younger, I used to like The Princess Bride, but I
haven't seen that movie in about six years.

LEFTY OR RIGHTY? I'm a right hand man

WHAT'S UNDER YOUR BED? My pet rat that my sister lost yesterday while I was
out of town.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NUMBER? None.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR? One that I can call my own.

FAVORITE SPORT TO WATCH: I don't like watching sports at all, but I do
fence saber and enjoy it very much.

WHAT'S IN YOUR CD/TAPE PLAYER RIGHT NOW: Cranes, Modest Mouse, Weezer.

WOULD YOU JUMP ON A BOMB FOR A FRIEND? I don't have any friends. If I did,
then yes.

ARE YOU FRIENDS WITH ANY OF YOUR EX'S? As close to friends as you could
call it, but I can never tell if someone is my ex, if I am still involved,
or if I was ever involved with them to begin with. That is the way of
young love.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A TEENAGER RIGHT NOW? Get a job, do well in
school, and don't do heavy drugs. Small mistakes early on in life can
seriously fuck people's whole lives up. Alcohol isn't as bad as they say
it is, just don't get piss drunk all the time.

1999-08-08 Thread grrr

yeah, i saw a show on bravo about the movie over a year ago when it was in
its early stages. they were pushing as a true story at the time.

i saw it a couple of days ago. scared the crap out of me. there were
some scenes of continuous swearing and yelling that got a little annoying,
but i never questioned the credibility of the film at any point in time.
i'm glad i wasn't let down after a year of waiting.

natalie
i just want to dance in your tangles.
