[MMouse]: karina/conan
karina, i totally agree with you on the whole conan is the indie rock of late night tv thing-i've often pondered that, especially since most people i know who are conan fans are also indie fans. i don't like stereotyping, but it happens for a reason-one thing in common tends to lead to another. kirstin.

[MMouse]: champion of all latenight
if one was to crown a champion of all latenight , one would have to give props to jon stewart...his old show kicked so much ass, you might as well call him a toilet seat.. now, the daily, is even better than before...although if you can find it that craig kilborn's latelatelate show is kinda funny too. although, neither really champion the indie rock like conan's show does... np:godheadsilo- share the fantasy
Re: [MMouse]: conan, indie rock, and at-the-drive-in

[MMouse]: conan, indie rock, and at-the-drive-in
i get it. testify, girl. on a related tip, my friend used to live in boston and he said andy richter was always at the middle east (the indie venue) and that he was a really sweet guy. i put conan and andy up there w/ ben stiller and janene garofalo in the famous-people-that-are-still-down-with-the-underground-kids category. >but yeah! when you think about it, Conan's show is like the indie >rock of >late night...its a little bit harder to find, it doens't >make huge claims >like the other shows, in fact its pretty self >deprecating, basically it >just shows up and is really great, whther >anyone is paying attention or >not. Does anyone get it?Karina randomly, does anyone here like at the drive-in? i saw them at this ain't no picnic and i thought they were fucking rad. i bought their first cd yesterday and on the first couple listens, i wasn't too impressed. except for "initiation," actually. is their second record better or no? i dunno if i should bother getting it. xoxo nicole ___ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. [MMouse]: conan hoax revisited
actually, its really not farfetched at all andy richter is quite the newyork scenester...he interviewed pavement a few months back for some online zine...he hangs w/ the upright citizens brigade on the comedy central, and they like the indie rock too. superchunk song was played last week, and one of the cast had a blues explosion shirt on and one had a yo la tengo shirt on... conan gets quite a few of the indier bands on.. aside but still on the subject, anyone ever see chumbawumba on leno show...corporate white oppressor, they all had shirts with crazy slogans like government sucks / socialism now... i dont remember them all, but it was kinda surreal..they played on the view once too, i think...
RE: [MMouse]: Conan hoax & BWP
I'm not sure if this pertaining to Burkittstown is true, but i know that outside my humble hometown of Lambertville there is a road that when you put you park at the bottom of it and put your car in neutral, it appears that your going uphill. You don't ACTUALLY go uphill..its an optical illusion which my father tried to explain to me once..i stopped paying attention after its an optical illusion..though. It definately has nothing to do with iron ore deposits..as a magnetic field that strong would manifest itself in other ways long before your car started moving.. Normally its frequented by drunks and stoners with nothing better to do, Its called gravity hill..im sure they're probably pretty common in farmy type suburbia places. Suffice it to say that if your not pretty drunk or pretty stoned, you will be dissapointed. Mark As I've mentioned before, I work at a music store part-time, and a woman overheard my co-worker and I talking about that witch movie that's out. She made it a point to tell us that as you drive into Burkittstown, there is a downhill slope. And if you put yr car in neutral on the hill, she says it will roll backwards up the hill. We said, "No fucking way," but she insists that the iron ore deposits in the ground create a magnetic field there. I think we'll check it out sometime, but not today... *phiL*

"I can't believe most of you aren't savvy enough to realize that there's no fuckin way modest mouse would be on national TV or the conan o'brien show at this point in their career, before they even have a new record out..." That's funny, because I've been savvy enough to catch many hitherto unknown music acts on national television. There's always the Sessions at West 54th Street series on PBS, which is broadcasted nationally. When MTV had Oddville, I saw more than a few good bands on that show before they even had a new record out. Maybe you aren't savvy enough to admit that it was a stupid idea instead of justifying yr actions by putting down most of the list. Very savvy. As I've mentioned before, I work at a music store part-time, and a woman overheard my co-worker and I talking about that witch movie that's out. She made it a point to tell us that as you drive into Burkittstown, there is a downhill slope. And if you put yr car in neutral on the hill, she says it will roll backwards up the hill. (from what i understand, bff was on when they were still techincally an indie band that no one had ever heard of.) and andy interviewed pavement a year or two back, so... i *DEFINATLY* wouldn't complain about seeing modest mouse on a late night show. that is, as long as it was announced beforehand so i could actually get the vcr ready. that, and if it wasn't leno -- i *HATE* jay leno. and also, to make my friend joe (who's lurking on the list) happy, i saw blair witch project on saturday. i was really looking forward to seeing it, and wasn't disappointed. sure, it wasn't the scariest movie ever; but i feel it was worth the four bucks. and i can honestly say that it was a lot better than the new austin powers film... -- b; who fell for the conan joke but didn't get angry.
