[MMouse]: senor brock y his jaw

1999-09-18 Thread wm. a. richards

Man, that really sucks. Ouch. Hopefully it's not really as bad as we heard
and he will heal okay. Maybe all of us on this list should chip in and buy
those guys some mace or something. Or send a body guard with 'em. I'm
thinking Mr. T, but he's uner the weather...maybe Calvin Johnson?

[MMouse]: indie in unexpected places

1999-09-18 Thread y-a-r-s-r-e-v-e-n-g-e

hey you know how you were all talking about how you in lechmere or some
other "completely -not - indie" store and you heard afghan whigs or
death cab for cutie or something? so i know that they are climbing their
way up the non-indie chain at least in terms of labels and whatnot but i
was just in sears and "you were right" video by built to spill was
playing on all the TVs that are embedded in the pillars there. it was
fucked up

[MMouse]: wooder ice, YING-LING, and favorite shows

1999-09-18 Thread Angela Mitchell

god bless cheesesteaks, yuengling, water ice (pronounced wooder ice) and
soft
pretzels.

hell yeah!! i'm originally from the philly area but years ago moved to
pottsville, home of the aforementioned yuengling. i'm now at school in dc.

best showsi have to agree with the modest mouse shows at the pontiac
summer '98. (the over 21 show was the best.) and #1 for me will always be
money mark/modest mouse/beck at the troc a few years ago. also:
764-hero/built to spill at the black cat last fall, the make up at the black
cat, and modest mouse/764 hero at fletcher's...mainly because they did the
cool jam thing that eventually turned into whenever you see fit.

love,
hezi

[MMouse]: 69 Love Songs

1999-09-18 Thread LWirbel

Oops, Nirra, I forgot to respond, I'm from Colorado, and apparently am the
only such person on the list.
Now, for the more important issue: Anyone on the list been through all 3 CDs
of Magnetic Fields' "69 Love Songs"? This just shoved out Guided by Voices
and Mogwai and a few others from my list of the best releases of 99. Amazing
album, particularly considering that Stephen and company can do 69 songs in
three hours with virtually no filler.

Re: [MMouse]: Pavement/Chicago

1999-09-18 Thread amy wolf

To Amy (I think): And though I feel terrible for Isaac, I've lived in
Chicago all my life and never once gotten beat up so please don't blame
the city for his misfortune. It's a beautiful city with a lot of great
people and like anywhere else a lot of riff raff.

eh i don't mean to make it sound like i'm blaming the city cos i'm not.
who lives in the city can't be controlled entirely, sadly enough, and stuff
like this happens. it's not my favorite city in the whole world but i
understand where you want it to be respected so i admire you standing up
for it. i'm just gonna keep this peaceful by saying i don't regret what i
said before but at the same time if you like the city (and the people in
it.. which is what i thought i said/what i meant in the first place :P),
more power to ya.
