if the last "stop being an asshole" bit i wrote was misinterpreted as being
aimed at someone on the list who might have voiced a non-disliking opinion of
the dreaful band in question, sincerest apologies. i was referring to jimmy
pop and his tribe of goons.

otherwise, if that's not what you're talking about, what the hell are you
talking about? i would hate to think that in saying "different opinions. .
.different biases" you are expressing a tolerance of intolerance (the shield
by which assholes like jimmy pop hide behind), because i call bullshit on
that. yeah, free speech, sure, but it does no good to sit by and let someone
disparage another on the basis of that person's sex, race, sexual
orientation, etc and not say something - too much tolerance (of intolerance
in particular, since it's one of my few "hangups") leads to a lack of
communication. and if there is no communication, then it is less likely that
someone who is narrowminded or intolerant will ever be forced to try and look
at things from a different, less hurtful perspective.
anger? no. or maybe. what the hell, sure. frustration? yes, definitely.
frustration that people like jimmy pop exist. "but the ladies took the
shirts off of their own accord. . .jimmy pop was just enjoying the view," you
might say. but then i say, look at the society in which women are at times
put into a situation where overt sexuality and a dehumanization of themselves
is seen to them as an only or one of few options of asserting control and
independence. this isn't always the case, but i think maybe has more to do
with smaller, less obvious situations like this than many would think, if
they thought about it at all (as in beyond, it's all in fun).
and i know that ultimately, a bloodhound gang concert is unimportant, but it
does exist as a microcosm that is indicative of other problems in general, as
does anything else.
otherwise, i didn't bring any violence into this. unless someone was willing
to bring me the heads of the bloodhound gang on sticks? . . .but i hadn't
asked for that.
yet.

2000-05-09 Thread Christian A. Cundari

I saw MM in Dresden last year and they were pretty well received. When they
started playing, there was about 30 people watching; and by time they
finished, the floor was packed and people were really into it (a lot of
people were there for Built to Spill). Also, on several occasions, native
Polish friends of mind have heard me listening to Modest Mouse and inquired
about who they were and proceeded to borrow my cds for extensive periods of
time. Almost every one I know here who listens to them, winds up loving
them.

and go Flyers.

hey:

is anyone going to the more than music fest in columbus, ohio this summer?
it's gonna be a killer -- orchid, the faint (who are my boyzz), the
rapture, song of zarathustra, & sphie nun squad? not to mention the
fact that, most likely, kansas will be there to enact a repeat of michigan
fest, in which they (we) severely whupped florida's ass in the contest of
representin'.

hey, if you live near the east coast, be sure to go see the black cat #13 if
they play in your town. they are radical.

oh, and the new modest mouse cd.. i really dig it! it rocks me! um.. at
least, that's what i keep trying to tell myself. but really, i'm more into
that popular song about thongs than i am into this album.

okay, all of the above was really just an attempt to make this e-mail seem
like it was about lots of different topics, some modest mouse-related, even.
but really, there is only one reason why i bothered to write an e-mail to
this list tonight, which is to say this:

when you sign up for a mailing list, you must realize that many, many people
are allowing you and your words into their inboxes..

this is something you should think about before sending ridiculous, childish
post after ridiculous, childish post to a list w. 300+ (? i'm assuming.. )
subscribers.

please.

(and, as this is not really a long post, NOR is it that annoying, and NOR am
i sending more than one, please do not hurl multiple "e-mail me in
private!"s at me. i am only one girl. i don't need yo shit. i do what i
gots ta do.)

Just go to Reckless Records, cause after that you won't have any more money

I'm still going by the 7:00 time though, that's what my ticket says, and it
doesn't matter anyway, there's TWO damn openers.
