Re: [MMouse]: GOD DAMN!!!
they played talkin shit about a pretty sunset?! damn, i've been waiting so long to hear them play that livei thought they never would...how was it?
[MMouse]: re:princess melissa is emo (proof!)
okay, under normal circumstances, i would have just thought this was funny and silly...but i've got proof that melissa is all about the sad-boy rock. so i'm at the Jimmy Eat World (whom i don't consider 'emo', but whatever) show on the 5th of this month (by the way, Jonah's onelinedrawing totaly stole the show...catch this man if you can. wonderful wonderful). and afterwards i'm hanging out outside, and lo and behold Princess Melissa of the Real World was there. no foolin'. everyone was abuzz. so a few things i observed about her: she lost ALOT of weight. she's scrawny now. she's really, really short. incredibly short. and lastly, she was *loud*...she definetly wanted attention. a bunch of guys were floking around her...so anyways, she likes the rock and it's odd to see the real world people out of their fishbowl. i bet she picked the promise ring. brian
[MMouse]: Promise Ring
in my humble opinion, 'nothing feels good' is promise ring's best album. there's so much going on in it, even though it may sound repetitive...they use a lot of different tunings, textures, instruments and ideas on it. i personally think it's incredible how it mixes meloncholy and upbeat feelings. but that's just me. their first full length, '30 degrees everywhere', is good as well. it's a little more raw, the vocals are a little muddier, and it's not neccisarily as catchy as nothing feels good. the louder moments are louder and the somber moments are quieter. this one has my favorite lyrcis though. abstract but at the same time make total sense. there's an early singles compilation called 'the horse latitudes', which is like the 30 degrees stuff, and just as good. the most recent promise ring stuff, the last 2 eps and 'very emergency' are way more pop (fountians of wayne-ish), but just as good in a different way. good listening for happy times. i guess you could say that if that others albums deal with the awkwardness of being young and in love and awkward, the newest stuff is telling you it's all going to be alright. on a side note...if anyone already really digs the promise ring, davy and dan have a side band called Vermont. it's low key, mellow, mostly accoustic and has all the same cool lyrical stuff as the older promise ring. kind of a cross between american football and red house painters. check it out. my two cents...i love the promise ring. they put on a very fun show. brian
[MMouse]: re:me eating out of your picnic basket
i guess i'll say my piece on the picninc, seeing as how i had such a good time. Tristeza were very cool. they've progressed so much from their frist album, i love it. At the drive in was insane, but Omar seemed crazier than any other time i've seen them...i mean he seriously didn't know what to do with himself. Got to see Sam Prekop which was a treat. he played a duet with Archer Prewitt which was awsome. but i think 2pm standing up on a hot day is not the best way to experince it...very cool none the less. The mouse rocked as always...they definetly did sound a bit cleaner. Can't say too much about it other than they were fun and everyone got their groove on. only disappointment: couldn't get the modest mouse dance squad from the El Ray show back together. Built to Spill was definetly the highlight of the day...i wanted to see pedro too, but i thought this would be one of my few chances to see BTS. so, so wonderful. lwhen the played "else" it was heaven l. i was happy i got to share that with the people i did. but my knees gave out so i went to go visit a few friends...and i missed them playing "car"! damn! oh well...i took a nice break and hung out on the grass where i saw miss leigh and few other peeps Beck was laid back and cool, blue man group is going to take over the world...i'm leaving quite a bit out but those were the high lights. alright, enough of this blabber. take care everyone. brian
[MMouse]: amps
hey everyone, i was just wondering if any of you knew what kind of Fender amp it is that Isaac uses...it's the big one with 8 speakers on it...if anyone knows what the name or anything is, let me know, thanks! :) brian
Re: [MMouse]: July 4th
i'll definetly be there, and i was wondering if anyone could clear something up: i heard the promise ring cancelled on the show...is this true? alright, see everyone there... brian
