can i share my maine experience?

i went to the island of vinalhaven, off the coast of maine,near freeport i
think...it was a 2 hr ferry ride there...spent a really cold march weekend
with a grrlfren at the timeit snowed on sunday and we were stranded for
another day, missed work, but had a great excusemissed the ferry, oh
well

really nice place, all things considered

that "some guy" is James Howard Kunstler. this book is essential
reading, and i've thought about it many times when listening to isaac's
words. from the back of the book: "...traces America's evolution from a
nation of Main Streets and coherent communities to a land where every
place is like no place in particular, where the cities are dead zones
and the countryside is a wasteland of cartoon architecture and parking
lots."
