Re: [MMouse]: Wanted: Your Faves

2000-07-04 Thread Chris Stratton

here you go...if your kinda tired of the same ol indie/matador shuffle and
want to really expand yourself, try these on for size..

newer stuff:
codeseven (new ep "Division of Labor" is unbelievable...
stretch arm strong
as friends rust
elliott (the band..new lp "False Cathedrals" quite possibly best of the year
death by stereo (new CD due very soon)
doosu (possibly the greatest band to grace the earth)
at the drive-in (believe the hype)
the icarus line (if you like atdi - a band that is in the same category as
atdi..unlike cursive)
don caballero
planes mistaken for stars

oldies but always goodies:
slugfest
despair
snapcase (stick to the old stuff)
falling forward (part of the members now make up elliott)
nick drake (gone way before his time..his music still sounds essential)
big star
hum
handsome
nation of ulysses

consider yourself warned

well, if you haven't already checked them out, then your first step should
without question be the geatest of all indie-rock bands - pavement. After
that, try: sonic youth, neutral milk hotel, yo la tengo, fuck, beulah, the
dismemberment plan, will oldham, dirty three, enon, silver jews, the jesus
lizard, olivia tremor control, belle and sebastian, my bloody valentine,
weezer, radiohead, the velvet underground, lou barlow stuff (sebadoh, folk
implosion, sentridoh, etc), godspeed you black emperor, sleater kinney,
creeper lagoon, the fall, chavez, cursive (similar to 'at the drive-in'), mc
paul barman, fugazi, flaming lips, i'm probably forgetting a bunch, but
that's a start.
