I think its really simple: If you've never seen Sonic Youth before, its yr duty as a fan to see them. They are yr godparents, like it or not. However, if, like me, you've seen SY six times, three times more than you feel is really necessary since they've played the same show four times in a row and the quality of the show depends on whether Kim is in a good mood anyway, and like me yr just starting to realise how mush you like Death Cab for Cutie,you should go see Death Cab for Cutie. Think of it this way: Say you can go see both of their shows, but you have to choose which to go to first. Who will give a better encore? That is, if they will even do one. So, you chose the one to go to that you want to see an encore of and leave the other one early. And you pick that one b/c encores are usually awesome. So, since you picked that one because of a good encore, maybe that means that you like them better; so go to that one. That made a lot of sense in my mind, but it looks kind of jumbled here, sorry. Deathcab For Cutie vs. Sonic Youth? I'm laughing already... I'll go out on a limb here and say that if you think Deathcab For Cutie is a better band than Sonic Youth (live OR in the studio), you should be beaten within an inch of your life. Not really, but I can't imagine a pro-deathcab argument holding any water.
