--prefix=/vg_U2YDEV_HOME/u2ydev/users/phooper/UMS_WEB/install/apache_1.3.12
\
--enable-shared=ssl

Output =

        Configuring mod_ssl/2.6.6 for Apache/1.3.12

        loading cache ./config.cache
        checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create executables.
Make: No arguments or description file. Stop.
        -------------------------------------------------
Hint: Either try to build 'patch' under etc/patch/
Hint: manually and re-run this 'configure' script
Hint: or provide us the path to your vendor 'patch'
Hint: program via the --with-patch=FILE option (but
Hint: expect perhaps failures when applying patches!)

The compiler line says checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
but I can't work out where this is being read from.

Can somebody please explain what is happening. I have been mulling this
over for a good few days now, but really need some expert advice.

Thanks

Paul
