The problem is that so many people send me GraphViz patches which break other people's code, so I'll have a little think about it. Leon
Re: CPAN6 (was: A Semi-Public Version Control Repository for Your CPAN Modules)
On 6/26/06, Randy W. Sims [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Has there been any public discussion of cpan6? I've only seen vague references and wishful posting. Will the design requirements be open to public review and comment before it's implemented? Of course not - but in the usual Perl way, if you don't like it, you can build your own cpan6! And release it to, errr, CPAN. Sorry, slightly tongue in cheek. But as with most Perl 6 projects, I have to ask: Why do we have to wait for Perl 6 before we get a better CPAN? Or is this getting too meta and should I wait until your yapc talk instead... Leon
Re: Ratings and Reviews ne Modules
Randy W. Sims sent the following bits through the ether: http://cpanratings.perl.org/d/CGI.pm Or do we? I get a 404. Not much use. That's a bug. You'll notice the same bug if you click on the CPAN Testers link. Is this a bug in search.cpan.org? CPAN.pm is one of the few if not only module that has a name which includes the extension. FWIW it's a bug in CPAN Testers too because the distribution name has a dot in it. I was trying to be a little secure and avoid people trying to do have tester reports which have ../../etc/whatever. I might be being a bit over strict, but then again I think it's stupid that it's called CGI.pm. The source to the CPAN Testers website is available on CPAN (unlike the other sites mentioned in this thread). Patches welcome. Re: Finding prior art Perl modules (was: new module: Time::Seconds::GroupedBy)
Simon Cozens sent the following bits through the ether: The searching in search.cpan.org is, unfortunately, pretty awful. At some point I plan to sit down and try using Plucene as a search engine for module data. I thought that would be a good idea too, so I tried it. It works *fairly* well. http://search.cpan.org/dist/CPAN-IndexPod/ Leon -- Leon Brocard.http://www.astray.com/ scribot.http://www.scribot.com/ ... Stupid is a boundless concept.

Steffen Goeldner sent the following bits through the ether: Image::Pbm - Load, create, manipulate and save pbm image files. Is this namespace ok? It's hard to tell without showing us docs and code. Re: RFC: DBIx::Util
Johan Vromans sent the following bits through the ether: Have you contacted the DBI people to see whether they are interested in adding this to standard DBI? FWIW, I submitted a patch to Tim Bunce in November adding these two to the core DBI API. I've benchmarked selectall_hashref as being ~30-50% faster than a loop over fetchrow_hashref. Tim accepted it, but I'm not sure who's in charge of DBI these days... Leon -- Leon Brocard.http://www.astray.com/ yapc::Europehttp://yapc.org/Europe/ ... Oh goody!
