New user: About this list style.

2004-01-16 Thread Graciliano M. P.
I have just subscribed to this list, and before start posting to it I want
to ask some things.

What is the style of the list?

* Is about help other authors to develope their modules?
* Help to test and give feedback about modules?
* Announce new modules?

Weel, this is what I hope that I can found here.

Regards,
Graciliano M. P.

How about you do your homework ie read through a bit of the
archives, hm?

Anyway, while development help is not off-topic, it's not really
the focus here. And the list is definitely not intended as a way
for module users to contact module authors. It isn't exactly for
announcements of new modules either, although that's closest.

The focus is really something like:

  Hi,

I've need to do XYZ and ended up writing a module for that. It
does blah, blah and blah. You can find the current version at
  http://example.com/perl/foo-bar-0.42.tar.gz so far. I'm
thinking about uploading it to CPAN and wanted some feedback:

  * Is Foo::Bar a good name for this module?
  * How do you find the interface?
  * What do you think of the POD?
  * Anyone take a look at the code and comment?

These are generally the things we talk about here.

It is, as the description says, a list for module authors to get
feedback from other module authors before they unleash their
cruft upon the world.

PS.: Please don't create new theads by replying to old mail. Some
of use have mailers that thread messages. It's not much effort to
copy the address and paste it into a new mail. Failing that at
least be so kind as to remove the In-Reply-To: and References:
headers before you send your mail.
