CPAN and namespace question
Howdy, I've written a module and I don't know if it is worth putting it in CPAN and what namespace to use. OK, I bought a Card from Conrad (German electronic stuff dealer) which has 8 Relais on it to control electronic circuits. It is connected to the serial port. So I wrote a Module which utilizes Device::SerialPort to control the card(s). Looking at the CPAn module list I don't have an glue about what namespace to use. It is indeed a kind of a hardware driver. It is also a device. In the cpan module list all the modules look very generic. Where to put a module for only one specific need? Before I will register at PAUSE I would like to hear some opinions. Please reply to my email address as I'm not subscribed to the module list. thanks in advance, Norbert

You should be able to do so yourself, since you appear to be listed as that module's maintainer in the modules list. Just go to https://pause.perl.org/pause/authenquery?ACTION=edit_mod , select Math::MatrixReal, and change the box CPAN User-ID to LETO; then click on Update. Cheers, Philip
Request for Registration
Hi All, I'd like to start giving something back to the Perl community by release CPAN modules. I therefore request to be a registered developer. Here's my information: Name: David Wheeler Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Homepage: N/A ID: DWHEELER Plans: There are a number of things I'd like to contributed. First up is a simple module for formatting people's names. More generally, however, I'm working on a framework for building large applications in Perl, and it includes a large number of modules that may be of general use. It will include yet another class maker module, type checking, date manipulation, and database access. Thanks! your name: Steve Santy your email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] your homepage if you have one http://icdweb.cc.purdue.edu/~ssanty/ your preferred user-ID on CPAN: SSANTY a short description of what you're planning to contribute: I am currently working on a module to implement the "Bootstrap" method for estimation of a population parameter. It is a computer intensive resampling method from inferential statistics that has been found to be very useful in the sciences and engineering. The best part about this method is that requires no assumptions about the underlying population distribution. It does not have to be Gaussian (normal)! Interested parties can read about resampling techniques in an online textbook at: http://www.resample.com/content/text/index.shtml Thanks for your consideration. -Steve Santy Interim Associate Vice President for IT Security and Policy Office of the Vice President for Information Technology Purdue University 765-496-1287
