In all seriousness, I think that it's not as bad as people are making it
out to be. Everyone who is been the loudest are not under an NDA, and
the people I talk to who are under the NDA seem to hint that it is not
as big of a deal as it is made out to be.

Somehow I think that if the Mono guys have been able to do what they've
done with .NET and Microsoft, that Monotouch will come out Ok.

*IANAL, nor am I on the Mono team, nor do I speak officially for anyone.
  YMMV. HAND.

Not as bad, are you serious?, you must read the NDA again, is very,
very clear and specific, there is no room for misunderstandings.

The reason way is *still* not as big of a deal, is just because this is
a new NDA targeting iphone OS 4 SDK, which is still not a big target,
people using OS 3 SDK NDA can still use the tools that they want..

Somehow I think that if the Mono guys have been able to do what they've

Sure, let hope that all this end up successfully for MT, adobe, unity,
etc (I really hate ObjC)..but my point is that until we know a
definitely answer from Apple, the future of MT is at least uncertain,
and is good to take some responsibility when someone says something like
sure, you can develop using Monotouch, ...

Please carry your frustration out of this mailing list.

The question and the answer were solely development related.
I see no point in accusing someone of persuading MonoTouch.

I've read the NDA. I understand the implications. I have plenty of ideas
on how to work around it. I'm no stranger to idiotic licensing schemes.
I'm not suggesting you are wrong, I'm saying that the lack of
information coming from the MT team may simply be a reflection of them
understanding clearly how to work around it, having worked with a legal
team to understand it, and not being able to say a word because of the
NDA they are under.

Never explain with malice that which can be explained by being hit with
a stuffed monkey.

[Mono-dev] Develop for iPad on the iPad

2010-04-19 Thread Daniel Morgan
Is it possible to develop for the iPad on the iPad?

If yes, is it possible to develop for the iPad on the iPad using MonoTouch?

Let's just say, I tried the iPad out at the store, and I like it very much. I
would like iPad to replace my laptop. In order to do this, I must be able to
create iPad apps on the iPad. Otherwise, I find no interest in the iPad then.

Have fun
Sebastien (feeling too positive to say *no* this morning)

[1] e.g. a vnc client
[2] the required dongle being a Mac computer running Apple tools and
MonoTouch ;-)
