Uploading to debianplanet is the best idea, however, I don't have access
to upload the packages there, if someone knows how to upload the
packages there please tell me how.

[Mono-list] New application released: Indexator.NET 0.1

2003-12-31 Thread Sergio Blanco Cuaresma

I have released a little application (called Indexator.NET) which is
able to index directories and store information about the files found in
a MySQL Database associating it with labels (so it can be used as a CD
Catalog).

You can find it here: http://www.marblestation.com/aplicaciones/

The information can be consulted in several ways: console client,
graphic client (GTK#), asp.net web, web service or using remoting.

It has two main objective:

  1) Be used as a CD-ROM cataloguer

  2) Be used as a way to explain the possibilities of Mono (and .NET) in
a course where I will be one of the teachers.

All the interfaces has been translated to English, Spanish and Catalan.

As this application will be used to teach/learn I have tried to touch
different aspects of Mono (.NET): Resources, Serialization, ADO.NET,
GTK#, ASP.NET, Remoting...

One of the things I don't understand is that MySQL access is very slow,
you have to wait a lot of time for a few registers and there is no CPU
or HD use.

The web service is failing also sometimes, I think it is something of
mono (although I'm not 100% sure).

What do you think about it? Suggestions are welcome :-)

Sergio.

[Mono-list] Mono Debian Packages

2003-12-31 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well, I'm creating debian packages for mono, mcs, gtksharp, xsp and
mod_mono, both 'stable' versions and CVS versions.

For the CVS Versions I'm going to be creating new packages every Friday.

What I'm trying to say? Soon the Debian users can start using debian
packages again (since the last deb package was .26-2 by Alp).

I can't upload the package to my debian server cause I have serious
problems with the SCSI HD but If someone has a good bandwith I can
upload the packages to a Debian Server.

Also, the packages are for 'unstable' if a 'stable' user wants to help
me with stable packages, please mail me.

Thanks an Happy new Year!

Try removing the directory $HOME/.wapi and then rerun mod-mono-server
using the same command.

Can you please make a very simple test case? MCS is finding a problem
in a block of 120 lines, it would be nice to have a smaller sample in
Bugzilla to track down.

There is no support for Bonobo in Gtk# yet.

You dont need Bonobo to interface to C code, use Platform/Invoke to use that.

[Mono-list] Windows build under Linux

Is it possible to make a windows build of Mono under Linux
instead of having to deal with Cygwin?  Cygwin really seems to hate me for some
reason, and no matter what I go, foils me at every turn in trying to get Mono
to compile.

Thanks. I was hoping to avoid P/Invoke, is all. Some portions would've
made great Scaffold plugins, but Scaffold makes heavy use of Bonobo.

Oh well. Thanks.

RE: [Mono-list] mod_mono 0.6 issues on SuSe 9.0

2003-12-31 Thread Jim Erwin
Chris,

I created a new user named wwmono.

I downloaded the latest apache 2 source tarball and compiled from source
using the same instructions as provided in the mod_mono documentation.
The only real difference was that I configured apache to install into
/home/wwwmono/apache2.

This is done as follows

./configure --prefix==/home/wwwmono/apache2 --enable-so

I created a directory /home/wwwmono/xsptest

I then copied /usr/local/share/doc/xsp/test with cp -R
/usr/local/share/xsp/test/*

I did all the configuration stuff in httpd.conf as in the mod_mono
documentation.

After starting up the server, doing chmod 666 /tmp/mod_mono_server and
restarting apache, all of the samples worked correctly.

Now if I could just get it to correctly read my config...

regards,

JE
