[Mono-list] Hello

2003-06-17 Thread Andreas Flatau
Hi,

today I found this Project-Site, because I'm writting a little report about
the M$ .Net Framework

It is really cool ;-)
I like to program with C# under Windows, but if all my Programs rut under
Linux - great !!

-> i have to test it :

Does Mono runs on SuSe 8.2 or only at 8.0(shown on your download page)?

Another question for my report:
when did Mono-Project starts and when ;-) is it finished?

bye & nice day

Andreas Flatau

Does Mono runs on SuSe 8.2 or only at 8.0(shown on your download page)?
Try to install that 8.0 package, it may work. Or see the tutorial to see
other ways of installing it:
http://go-mono.com/tutorial/html/en/index.html

The link above for the tutorial is missing from the Mono Home Page,
can someone correct it or explain why it was dropped

You can also see http://www.go-mono.com/mono-beginning/t1.html

Another question for my report:
when did Mono-Project starts and when ;-) is it finished?
It started on Jul 9, 2001.
Version 1.0 is bound to happen this year. See:
http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/05/22/HNmono_1.html

it looks like you're having problems with gecko-sharp. Can you try
monodoc --no-gecko ?

Wellcome to Mono, Hernan.
You will find lots of already solved problems here:
 http://www.go-mono.com/mailing-lists.html
Try "Google search of the archives"
If you search for "hernan", you found that:
http://lists.ximian.com/archives/public/mono-list/2003-September/015760.html
(hummm.. a spanish mono list? that looks like good :D )
A interesting view of the list is there:
http://archive.neotonic.com/archive/mono-list
(wow!.. include a RSS links and stats!)
Yet another cool idea can be to search for netiquete.
Here is one for you:

Good Luck!

Re: [Mono-list] Hello, Mono!

2005-02-15 Thread A Rafael D Teixeira
Well the 'mono' you typed at prompt is just the runtime (the program
that will execute your programs)

you need to compile your C# code first using mcs:

mcs -target:exe HelloMono.cs

then you will have a HelloMono.exe that is your C# source compiled to
the standard (multiplataform) format.

Then you can execute it with:

mono HelloMono.exe

Hope it helps, Have fun

Re: [Mono-list] Hello, Mono!

2005-02-17 Thread Ralph Green, Jr.
Howdy,
It is a good link and an interesting article. Unfortunately, it
does not work. Whoever maintain the red-carpet repository needs
to update mono-winforms. It is not up to the version of the other
mono pieces and it is a dependency. I have been trying it every
couple of days for two weeks and it is still broken.
Good day,
Ralph

[Mono-list] Hello World for Mono.Cairo.dll

2005-08-29 Thread Dan Poage
I started looking into the Cairo bindings in Mono.Cairo.dll and I
wanted to get a feel for how to use them. The Cairo.CairoAPI seems to
expose *most* of the functionality in the underlying C library but I
can't find a corrolary to the paint method that is used to display
Ciaro objects on the screen. I have been looking at the various Cairo
examples (with other bindings) on the web and I can't find where some
of the key functions
are mapped in the Mono.Cairo bindings. Does anyone have example source for
a Hello World-style program in C# using Mono.Cairo.dll? Any help is much
appreciated.

We're working on creating some samples that show the use of Mono.Cairo.
We'll post a notice when they're in svn.

Not sure which method in particular you are looking for, but we have the
cairo Gtk sample code here:
http://svn.myrealbox.com/viewcvs/trunk/mcs/class/Mono.Cairo/Samples/

And, as mentioned before, we are preparing X11 and standalone (png) sample
code for Mono.Cairo, which, once complete, can also be found under the above
URL.

The equivalent of cairo_paint, btw, is Surface.Show()

Cheers,
  Peter

Um, aren't they already in mcs/class/Mono.Cairo/Samples/gtk? Only thing
I needed to do to compile them was alter the compile.sh file so instead
of having -pkg:gtk-sharp it was changed to -pkg:gtk-sharp-2.0

That shaded demo is a bit bloody quick!

[Mono-list] Hello world.. Mono/Gtk/WinXP install & config

2013-05-04 Thread matibee
Hi all,

(Mono 2.10.9, Xaramin studio 4.0.3, Gtk#, WinXP)

Can you please help me get to bottom of my installation and configurations;

- when I run from Monodevelop the UI is very plain and flat
- if I run from the Mono command line it's modern and slick
- when I try and launch the exe as a standalone it crashes

The exe runs nicely on my Ubuntu build :)

Many thanks in advance.
- Matt

This is my first outing with Mono and Monodevelop on WinXP and Ubuntu and
I'm extremely impressed. I hope to be around for some time.
