[Mono-list] Problem installing mono 2.8 on a fresh openSUSE 11.3

2010-11-07 Thread Joshua Poehls
*I did the following in the terminal:*
1) zypper addrepo
http://ftp.novell.com/pub/mono/download-stable/openSUSE_11.3 mono-stable
2) zypper refresh --repo mono-stable
3) zypper dist-upgrade --repo mono-stable

*... and got the following:*
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Computing distribution upgrade...

Problem: nothing provides pkgconfig(glib-2.0) needed by
libgdiplus0-2.8-31.1.i586
 Solution 1: keep obsolete libgdiplus0-2.6.4-2.1.1.i586
Solution 2: break libgdiplus0 by ignoring some of its dependencies

Neither of those solutions look like the right move. Any help would be
great.

Thanks!

Nevermind. I ran just zypper dist-upgrade first and it installed the needed
packages. After than running zypper dist-upgrade --repo mono-stable worked
perfectly.

Could you please add a link to the posix file on the download-page where

You can get the rpms from http://www.go-mono.com/download.html
Go to the packages section of your distro.
IIRC you need to install mono-core and mono-posix at the same time, passing
both filenames when you call rpm -ivh.

I have tried to install older versions of mono before, but never made it.
Could this cause the problem?

The contrib repository of Mandrake 9.2 contains mono 0.26.
I made 9.2 packages of the current cooker versions (0.29). You can find them
at:
http://mirror.brain.org/linux/mpol/mandrake/i586/9.2/RPMS/

The easiest is to just add it as an urpmi medium by running:
urpmi.addmedia mpol
http://mirror.brain.org/linux/mpol/mandrake/i586/9.2/RPMS/ with
../base/hdlist.cz
After this you can run urpmi monodoc, or urpmi gtk-sharp to install packages,
or just urpmi --auto-select to update original 9.2 packages.
There are no packages for mod_mono, because I couldn't get it working yet.
Quel Qun, who did work on the packages claims it works for him, so I have to
fiddle with it some more.

I don't know if Ximian wants to make packages for Mandrake themselves. If so,
the best would be to have /usr/bin/ilasm configured as an alternative
(update-alternatives) so it doesn't conflict with Mandrake's mono and pnet
packages.

Re: [Mono-list] Problem installing Mono on Linux Mandrake 9.2!

2004-01-13 Thread Mark Gimelfarb
I was also wondering about the same thing. I too, downloaded the rc
client in hopes of being able to use Mono channel in order to be able to
download new version of Mono for my MDK 9.2 box. Unfortunately, Mono
channel doesn't have any RPMS for MDK9.2 and therefore, is not listed in
the channel subscription box.

Are there any mono 0.29 RPMS for MDK9.2 around at all?

Best regards,
Mark.

avalible channels I only see two channels: redcarpet2 and Evolution...
How can I install Mono on that distribution?
