Funny?? if you think a kitten attacking our hand like the Tasmanian devil is a hoot then laugh... some back story,, this is relevant since we have been talking about people that cant finish orders.. well my next door neighbor owned a flower shop.. her husband died, friend died,, and i think she's gone nuts.. she let the place go to where animals are living in the building,, and the roof leaks , and all the trees and brush grew like a jungle.. I one day grabbed a knife and leaped off my roof in a craze and started cutting down the sumac stink trees and all the vines.. it looked like a tarzan set!! well then I got sick.. i thought Lyme.. still never found out what,, except diabetes.. OK>.> she has a "ex war vet( vietnam vet with post shock syndrome ) living in the building,,, NO water- No gas-,, and animals.. and no sewage,, Yep... the city has a bench warrant last I heard for failire to keep a property clean... so this guy sits up there like Norman bates... no heat . no air.. and all kind of animals.. wild... like we saw two raccoons, the other day, he said he was sitting watching-tv when the raccoons stole his food, right inside( they are as big as dogs), so I was worried because he locked the hole that the female cat came through.. so we started feeding the cat as we felt sorry for her. and thought she may have kittens 1st the driveway.. then my son put a bowl in my shop where i make products.. its a converted garage,, so next i look in the door and see 3 bouncing kittens jumping all over hell... being the good Samaritan i attempt to be,, I tried to grab a furrball so i could round them up,, when.. the little hellcat went wacko and bit my finger harder than a staple gun in the bone!! so I have no idea how to catch them as they are real quiet... and sneaky.. all i know is I am out 235.00 because i put my hand out to help the little sucker.. Ok to end on a good note.. I thought of cat movies,, I remember "eye off the cat,", with Michael Sarrazin.. that was a good one..." Cats eye"... "Catwoman" "kitten with a whip" - Ann Margret... Kitty Cats...maybe some people can add some Cat poster titles.. [MOPO] FS: Rare blues poster
Hello MoPo, Dario calling all the blues men & women. I just dug up this rare piece from a roll of posters I forgot about. It's an original 1969 blues festival poster from Germany. The poster is rolled with a clean 3 inch tear on the top border and some very very minor border nicks around the poster. Check out the names, there's some really famous grass roots and blues musician on here. Poster measures approximately 33x46 and the price is $225 plus shipping. I prefer Norman Vincents Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking"! Will Roger's thinking in that "he never met a man (woman too, I'm sure, in these decades) he didn't like". Interpretation could be that he trusted his fellow man until he had reason "not to trust". I like to practice this and it has never betrayed me. Perhaps, an I am only suggesting, that this could be practiced on MOPO. Ok this will sound like a Joke. but it happened today.. I am in my shop ( now know as shop of Horrors) when i decided to round up the kittens...that are living there with a mother cat from who knows where... so I see little fuzzy kitten under a table go to pick it up and it goes ballistic on my hand and BITES my finger middle right hand... these Kittens look like the movie Gremlins... there are three twoo yellow one grey.. well I call the vet and they say 10 days in quartine.. then they test for rabies... Plus i just went to the doctor got a injection of Rocephin 90.00 and a tetnaus total bill 235.00 and week of pills augmenten antibiotic// so here i am saying everyone shoudl get allong... when I would just Love to take these Frickin Kittens and ther mama For a LONNG country ride... let it be known today,, That frickin KITTIN SUCKSS!! but I eill still continue to do orders.. ask me if ill care if a Kitten gets stuck in machinerey? we all have our LIMITS and these varmints are really PUSHING IT this is totally serious man.. Eugene, Hey, I was hoping you'd see my suggestion for a message to send to MoPo and finally say something yourself. What you said was not exactly what I was looking for, but whatever... I would have responded privately to your message, but as you sent it to the list, I have to respond there. I'm really and sincerely sorry for anything that has happened in your personal life, Eugene, and I believe that you are an honest guy who has just got behind on his orders. I just wish you had let people know about the delay so that they had not brought it up in public -- which would have been better for you, too, don't you think? Remember, it wasn't me who put up that first post, asking MoPo if anyone knew what was happening with Eugene because they had not received their posters and weren't getting any responses to their emails. It was one of your customers who was understandably worried. Nor have I told one single story about "Eugene and my posters" publicly or privately because you've never handled any of my posters so I don't have any stories to tell. As for my "outing Randy Pillar" on Style B Dude, you started that incident yourself by posting messages to Style B questioning Susan's knowledge and ability in public under a clearly false name -- really, if anyone was "attacking" anybody at that point, you were. So how did you expect people to react to that stunt? I have stated publicly on Style B that I did not believe then (and don't believe now) that you were intending to "attack" her in a serious way, but that you were just larking about, poking a little fun at the linen-backing guild. If you feel that my revealing who "Randy Pillar" was constitutes me "attacking" you, then I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm for openness and honesty between people. I have never questioned your abilities on MoPo either. I just said that it would have been better if you had let your customers know that you had "a situation" and that you were running behind so that they had not reason to start asking questions in public about "what's happening with Eugene". I did not mean for it to become a duping session on Eugene when I originally posted my message about how Eugene (or anyone) could have avoided all of this fuss on the list by just letting their customers know there would be a delay in their order. I only wanted to point out to everyone who has customers that it is always easier to send a "pre-emptive" courtesy email when you get behind, or have a family emergency or whatever. This puts people's minds at ease and lets them know that they have not been forgotten and that they can stop going to the mailbox in anticipation every day (which really gets irritating and depressing if you're expecting something and it is continually not arriving). Or, if the situation is such that sending individual emails isn't practical, you can send just one notice to a public forum like this, so that people in general will know and can tell others. I mean, it's a given that a forum like this is where one of your customers is likely to finally -- out of desperation, if they haven't had a response after several inquiries -- post a public message of their own like: "Hey, has anyone heard from lately? I've been expecting a package and it hasn't arrived and ___ is not responding to my emails" Before that happens, if you send a notice informing the community that there is a "situation", you avoid these kinds of public inquiries in the first place and all the fuss that can result from it. Look, you don't have to pour out your problems to the world. You don't have to go into personal and private details. You don't have to sound defensive. You just have let people know that there is something happening. I hereby place this sample of such a message in the public domain for future reference. Anyone who needs to can feel free to use it and save themselves and everyone else the unnecessary grief next time: "Hi everyone! This is _ writing to say that I've had an unexpected situation come up and that I'm running behind a little on ___. [MOPO] About spoof protection
The rule about "never clicking on a link in a email" is a good one -- but there are a couple of exceptions: 1) You have asked for the email to be sent to you or done something to trigger it. Like, if you register for membership at www.MoviePosterBid.com, when you submit the form you get a message on the screen saying that you will be sent a mail to confirm your email address. When you get that email, there will be a link in it telling you to click on it to confirm you received it and instructions for changing the automatically generated password to something easy for you to remember. This is a common procedure used by most websites when people first sign up for an account. Since you know the email is coming, you can safely assume it is from the correct website and click on the link. This only applies to the first time you "do something" at a website that causes them to send you something. If you were to get another email several days later, claiming to be from MoviePosterBid.com and asking you to click on a link to confirm your account, that would be a spoof. These days, a genuine request for you to access your account from the real website will not have a link in the email, but will say something like: "Go to MoviePosterBid.com and log-in. Then click on the "My Account" link to change the information in your user profile." ... that gives you the instructions so you can safely go yourself to what you know for sure is MoviePosterBid.com and not some scam site, and then enter your account information at the authorized site. 2) When you get a confirmation email on something you have done -- like bid on an auction. You will receive an email saying you have won such-and-such item and there may be links in that message to click. Those are safe --at least I have never yet heard of anyone spoofing an auction confirmation, but I suppose it could happen, so if anyone hears of this happening be sure to let the rest of us know. 3) When someone sends an email which includes links to their own auctions, those are safe to click on because you will not be asked to enter any personal information or account number or password. The links you have to completely avoid are the ones which ask you to "go here and confirm your information" or "click on this link to insure your account is not closed" or anything where they are going to ask you to enter account information or your password or any personal information. Of course, we don't take credit card information as part of the registration process at MoPoBid, and we only ask for the most basic personal information, so the worst that could happen with us is that if someone got hold of your password that they could buy posters in your name... probably not something most "spoofers" or "phishers" are interested in doing. -- JR Beware: as the days go by, these emails look more, more and MORE official. The spoofers (also known as phishers) are incredibly sophisticated. My son, who is an IT, gave me this rule of thumb: NEVER CLICK ON A LINK GIVEN IN AN EMAIL, be it from ebay or your bank or paypal or microsoft or anyone else. You should go directly to the site (https...etc) yourself and conduct business from there. For example, I never click on the link in an ebay auction to pay by paypal . For extra safety, I just go to www.paypal.com and enter the payment instructions by hand. Good luck. Delete that spam after you forward it to ebay. well I guess some people are impervious to feeling hurt and can operate at full 100% function and reason... even under intense pain, confusion, and sorrow. must be nice... for me, its been a long journey to seek inner and outer peace.. still not there and it changes daily... but its a goal.. You keep walking towards. For those that can retain strength and focus.. That's great.. why not lend a hand to the weaker ones and help them to heal..? Instead of insinuating bad intentions or shoddy service from a fellow Moper why not band together and suggest ways to help or simply send him a Email offering support and encouragement? after all how can the man think straight If all people are hassling him to complete work he is having a difficult time completing because of valid issues..? compassion in a time of need is essential to many.. that's should be considered.. for those with all the strength they profess they in my opinion have a extra responsibility to help as they seem to have skills that they say have allowed them to rise above the inability's of others.. so why do these people not come to the aid of the ones that need help Instead of persecuting them in public and berating their suffering?? makes no sense to me.. I work in mental health and actually see a variety of reactions to deaths in a person's family - from suicide to mania, and everything in between. I appreciate you relating your experience, and offer my deepest condolences. But, some people do "lose it," or "shutdown" as a normal response to intense stress and depression. Look, I agree Eugenes communication sucks in response to the posted concerns, I never said I did not agree. My position is that I understand, and will give the benefit of the doubt until I have reason not to. I still have not been presented with a reason to distrust Eugene - reasons that have been stated by others here: he was late two years ago, he is still listing on eBay, and he is flakey on returning inquiries. Other comments made here: he will always deliver - even if late, he has done increasingly great work, he is definitely sending people their posters, you can reach hime by phone during working hours, he's had two deaths in the family, he is moving across the Pacific, and he has been a respected MoPo member for years (not stated, but accurate). So, I have more positive/explanatory info than negative - the benefit of the doubt is therefore given. I just tired of MoPo gossip and speculation, especially if it kicks someone when there down or damages a good reputation. Additionally, there is a really good site for checking out ALL internet spoofs, among other things. http://www.snopes.com So when you receive one of those chain emails talking about the teddy bear virus, you can go to Snopes and find out it's not true. Or basically any sort of urban legend-esque email you receive. A very useful site. On this one I can truly state that you are all wet. You have no clue what you just stated unless you have lived through it. 20 years ago when my children were 7 and 11 my wife got cancer and passed away a few years later. I never shirked my responsibilities in business. I averaged 3 days a week in the office for almost two years. I had associates take care of what I could not do while she was ill. All calls were answered - period. My secretary made certain that no business was left up in the air. Please don't misunderstand this email. I am not looking for sympathy and I prefer no one write me about my personal past problems. I am relating this only because I truly know the state of mind of a person whose wife was dying. I also prefer not to talk about this side of my life but the statement made by Gary about not caring about anything personal or business due to a death is nonsense. I am only responding to the statement that because someone has a death in the family (and what the relationship was to Eugene Hughes I do not know) all responsibilities go out the window. In addition, this case is very different. He is still posting and looking for additional money from ebayers. JR and Saul Chapman were absolutely correct. This man wants your money, has taken your posters and money, and is hiding behind an excuse of "sympathy". If he is available for telephone calls and accepts them, then he could also make the calls. He took posters and money. If he is not in a mental state of mind to call or do the work, then the very least he could do is have someone do it for him which is to return the money and/or the posters to the trusting owners.
