[MOPO] MOVIEART MALWARE ISSUE ADDRESSED

We have contacted our website host, and they have removed the malware
that was causing the incidents discussed earlier today on MOPO.  

I realize the necessary fear that folks have to have a brush with malware.

To the best of our knowledge, this problem is resolved.

Many thanks to all on MOPO who responded to our request
for assistance in this matter.  

I think we have learned something from dealing with this, and we
would not ask for help from MOPO members in exactly this way
in the future.

MovieArt is committed to running a safe and interesting website.

The worst is that many anti-virus softwares don't find EVERY malware, so
you might get a "nothing found" report but still have something.

My Mac running OS X 10.5.8 gave the following warning in Safari:

I just tried going to the site and a number of warning messages came up 
including "Warning - cannot send session cookie" and others. My own virus 
programme also sent a warning message so I guess there is a problem of some 
sort.

Happy New Year.
Yes, the exact same thing happened to me the other day re: a posted link to 
your site.
Also, subsequently, when I've clicked on a movieart link that you've posted in 
an email, the linked page starts throwing up several lines of (what looks like) 
diagnostic information before, seconds later, loading the correct page.
I lack the most perfunctory of technological knowledge, so can't speculate as 
to why this may be, but yes it seemed a bit weird!

For those of you who have websites:  there has been a flood of spam recently, 
purporting to be from Google - and perhaps other IT companies - saying that
"your" website is harboring and distributing malware.

I first begin to notice email coming on this subject within the last two days 
or so.

I was alarmed when a colleague said that he clicked on a mopo email
generated here with a link to one of our listings and he subsequently
experienced a computer problem.

The emails from allegedly from Google are bogus.

We had our site scanned for virus and malware and movieart.net
is in good shape to the best of our knowledge.

Sometimes bulletin boards like MOPO, if they are targeted, can be a source
of problems, especially for PCs, which are more prone to viruses
and malware.

Has anyone else on the list noticed anything weird in this respect?

Scott, does the MOPO host keep an eye on this kind of thing?

This *IS *a good article. It goes hand in hand with why I have to buy 100
cable TV channels, when I really only watch 5 of them.

The studios make the good movies and the bad ones (and the good TV channels
and the crap ones) and they force theaters (and cable companies) to take
the bad with the good. so that they make extra money. As long as they have
so much power the situation will exist.

I think price should be based on supply and demand. If Mission Impossible
was $20 the opening week, then some people might put off seeing it until
the price went down, and lesser movies could be priced cheap enough to
create a bigger audience. And the Fishing Channel on TV should be something
I buy a la carte if I want it, and if there aren't enough people who want
it, then that is just too bad.
