I am not an expert on lenticular posters, but I suspect this poster, which
can be seen with this correct link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=
true&item=160775920848

is real and either studio created or Marvel comics created and maybe for
trade show exhibition, like at San Diego Comicon or another convention,
where the cost of making the poster would fit in with the cost of exhibiting
at the show.

keep in mind, the costs of creating a lenticular of this size is
considerable, and I doubt such a poster would be sent out for display to
many theatres if any at all and I also doubt it would be used for bus stops
as to print 100 of them would cost a boatload of money

I recommend going over to Allposterforum.com where the majority of
collectors there are modern era collectors and I would be surprised if
Marklawd, Dale Dilts or a couple other fellows there do not know exactly
what the poster is

Rich

ps.. I know I have a lenticular poster of this size in my warehouse for
Zathura (correct spell?) and LAMP has a list of lenticulars that do include
other bus stop sizes, but their list is incomplete. I think allposterforum
has a complete list of lenticular posters somewhere

The only thing it says on the poster is "Tracer Graphix". It would be

At 48 x 70, it seems a pretty odd size, and with no studio or actor credits

[MOPO] Consignor funnies

2012-04-08 Thread Bruce Hershenson
We are nearing 1,000 consignors, and the logistics of handling 100,000+
items a year from that many consignors is very daunting, but we have an
incredible system set up, and so we almost never have the slightest problem
with getting items entered correctly, auctioned, and then have the right
consignor paid for the right items.

Recently a consignor contacted us and told us that a poster we auctioned
could *NOT *have been his example of that poster because the one we
auctioned had its blank top trimmed, and the one he sent did *NOT* and
furthermore he *NEVER *ever bought a trimmed poster!

First we checked though our tens of thousands of other consignments to see
if perhaps we had another example and they somehow got switched, but no.
Then we looked at every time we ever sold it to see if it could have been
switched in the past, but no luck there, because the only other time we
auctioned it was years before he sent his.

Next we looked at when we entered it to see if it was entered with his
other consignments and it was. Then we looked to see if it was photographed
with his other posters, and was that photo of a trimmed poster, and yes and
yes.

So I emailed him that I was at a complete loss as to how he could be right,
and was there even the most remote chance that his memory was faulty.

He replied that (tee hee) he suddenly remembered he had two of these, and
he *HAD *sent us the trimmed one!

So of course, I said, "No big deal" even though we wasted a huge amount of
time researching this, but "the customer is always right" and if you want
to be the best auction house you have to go to these lengths sometimes (and
isn't always beer and skittles).

[MOPO] Spider-Man 2 48 x 70 lenticulars

2012-04-08 Thread Doug Taylor
Does anyone know the provenance of these posters?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem
 &item=160775920848&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

Were these actually studio produced? Marvel produced? Individually
produced?

At 48 x 70, it seems a pretty odd size, and with no studio or actor credits
of any kind it just seems to be unrelated to the actual marketing campaign
for the film.

Regards
