[MOPO] Need concept artist name

2013-05-22 Thread Geraldine Kudaka
We're writing an article and I'm looking for the name of an artist who did a
lot of stuff for Roger Corman. Of note, he did a futuristic motor bike concept
poster for the Cannes festival. This was a Corman film in the mid-70's,
probably 76-77. This film may not have been in any of the trade mags for Cannes
as Corman's ad budget was limited.

Bike rider standing over bike wearing a futuristic costume. Bike was probably a
jet bike... as you look at poster, rider was facing left.  Costume was not like
Mad Max (dystopian) but cleaner.

Anyone know who I am talking about?

[MOPO] Lobby Cards End Tonight: Classic Bogart, Film Noir, Laurel & Hardy, the Stranger with Orson Welles

2013-05-22 Thread Richard Halegua Posters + Comic Art

Lobby Cards Auction Ends Tonight
We haven't been able to tell people about the current auction running
because I've been so damned busy lately.
But there is alot of news. First of all, we have the current auction
running which includes lobby cards for such titles as All Through the
Night, 20,000,000 Miles to Earth, Saps at Sea, the Stranger, Singing
in the Rain, the Big Clock, Fantasia and many more.

The auction ends tonight

to See a Gallery of the posters being sold in this
auction

Click
Here to Go to the Auctions www.movieposterbid.com

Also Note, we're having a Special Sale in June. From the 12th to the 26th.
This auction will feature 300 specially selected items, all of higher
values and will include items such as Psycho 1965R 1sh in NM, Lobby
Cards for Sanders of the River with Paul Robeson, Elvis Presley's
Love Me Tender insert and 297 other hand-selected items. We are still
accepting consignments for this auction of items worth $50.00 or more
only. More information on consigning is at this link:

http://www.movieposterbid.com/consignments.asp

There is also another change in our auctions.
Unfortunately, the weekly auctions have destroyed my personal life.
These auctions require so much time that between Anna and myself,
it's impossible for me to find time to do things other than these
weekly auctions. At the same time, as any business owner knows, it's
a lot of trouble constantly training new employees (like Valerie who
left recently because of her schooling), it's takes alot of time and
effort to do this work and I've made a decision to discontinue a
weekly auction, mostly so I can regain my life as well as give me the
opportunity again to do more travelling to buy collections and go to
conventions

This does not mean I will not still be doing regular auctions
I will be changing to a monthly "plus" auction schedule. Each month I
will have a Special Auction of 300 listings and in between I plan on
having one other auction each month of fewer items than my normal 300
listings. However the Special Auctions are going to raise
MoviePosterBid.com auctions to a whole new game of much better
quality posters because if I'm only doing one serious auction per
month, I'll be completely cutting out lesser quality or lower priced
items which will from now on only be sold in bulk or smaller group
lots. As a matter of fact, I'll even be selling some Pallet-sized
bulk lots as I unload lots of material I will no longer be offering
and I will be devoting much more time to Set-Priced items and for
your comic fans, I'll be listings lots more of my comics, pulps & art
stock, which has languished for a long time as I worked on these
weekly poster auctions. In other words, you'll get to see lots more
of my "hidden stock" and for collectors of all kinds, that is a good
thing. We do appreciate everyone who has been bidding in our weekly
auctions the past 6 years and we hope you will stick around to see
what we'll be selling in our coming auctions

Here is a small preview of the Special Auction that runs June 12-26

That was hilarious! I love these stories. Sad for the guy who thinks he's got a
major item, but ... still hilarious.

2013-05-22 Thread Sean Linkenback
Quick search turned up the website offering the rare original (printed by
One-Stop, with their address including zip code on the poster) here:
http://www.posterbobs.com/services48.html

What's sad is that the Inquisitr has sent this on the wires and several news
agencies are picking it up, so expect a flood of similar "finds".
Would love to know what antique shop said it was authentic

[MOPO] hollywoodposterauction.com

2013-05-22 Thread Morris Everett Jr
Check out the bidding action on our 21st annual hollywoodposterauction.com
This years auction is quite different. There are 300 lots of other kinds of
vintage posters with great graphics at very low reserves. There are 500 lots of
movie posters, lobby cards, stills, autographs, magazines, etc. The Last Moving
Picture Co., Hollywood Poster Auction, and me, Morris Everett Jr. truly
appreciate your support.
