It is this:

We sold it for $449.

I*It is from a limited edition of 500 which was created in 1984 by Art Deco
Designs. The poster is a re-creation of the original Werner Graul
theatrical poster which can go for $20,000.*

I recently re-watched all of St. Elsewhere. He was supposed to be on only
the first few shows and then die of liver cancer, but he was so popular he
stayed the entire series.

There was a great episode with him and David Wayne, another superb
underrated actor, who acted for decades.

Re: [MOPO] We at eMoviePoster.com have FINALLY been able to correct an error we made 23 years ago!

2021-05-26 Thread Greg Douglass

John, I think a big part of the problem with Ebay is that it started out as an auction site and has now become a place where posters are sold for fixed prices. Those fixed prices are often absurdly high (I just saw a seller asking $4500 for a high-quality slide of a desirable poster. I did not reach for my credit card.Is there something I'm missing?)

Ebay was fun in the beginning, where the auction format allowed poster prices to reach their natural price level. As the years go on, I see the same overpriced posters sitting there, year after year.

I save my pennies for Bruce's Super Auctions, some Heritage material, and movieposterexchange. I also have some friends I do business with where I can do trades or pay monthly for a poster I've been lusting after for years but can't afford to pay for all at once.

Ebay has also made it harder and harder to sell material, changing the rules every other week.

I still buy 3D DVDs on Ebay, however. As soon as the press proclaimed "3D has jumped the shark!", I started buying 3D DVDs on a regular basis. I have a couple of 3D geek buddies and we have watching parties once a month.

In the meantime; I'm looking forward to Bruce's Major July auction.

Gotta go practice guitar for an upcoming major concert. I'll get back into poster lust after June 5th.

Small sellers seem to be doing very well on Facebook. There are many popular pages for movie posters and people who have small collections are offering their posters on those pages and there seem to be new buyers who have never looked at eBay or other sites.

The funny thing is that there is very little research into prices by either buyer or seller.

I am fortunate that my website gives me more than enough business but I do see things changing with more people ignoring eBay and moving to Social Media to sell their posters.

The $100,000 question is: What to do about it? Some people (including myself) do well with their own website, but what about all the small and private sellers? Any alternative in sight? Any ideas?
