[MOPO] The Posterfix/Andrea saga

2008-10-29 Thread Phil Edwards
Kirby - I can't see where you did anything wrong or any need make any kind
of an apology.

Unless the full texts of these emails - from both sides - is posted (here
and not extracts on NSF as I have seen), and transcripts of the phone
calls, then there is now so much hearsay, that whatever or not this guy did
or said, and whatever Andrea did or said has gone way beyond the pale of
this dicussion group and ethics of any kind, I'm appalled and it takes
something serious for that.

Scott, this whole thing needs deleting in my opinion, and needs to be sorted
out bewteen the parties involved. If the abusive emails are what has been
stated and without provocation, then surely it's time to call law
enforcement in.

Gee, and I thought NSF could get spikey and vicious.
Phil

Andrea, I called him ONCE this morning and told him there was a
 discusssion about him
on MOPO and that it wasn't very favorable to him, and that it was in his
interest to know this. This was the first time I have
spoken to him in more than a few years. He said he did not know what
 MOPO was
and so I told him that MOPO was a discussion group and that he was being
 discussed
and not in a good light and that he might want to address this.

I probably should have minded my own business. I certainly did not
understand all this. Sending abusive and threatening e-mail and name
calling is utterly reprehensible and I strongly condemn this
 behavior toward you or anyone.

 All good wishes,
 Kirby

Thank-you. Well, I shared those emails with Claude, too. That's it.
There's more that arrived later. Wow! He called 3 more times tonight.
And replied to different emails from days before, that had been
previously answered. I'm thinking of buying a pit bull!

So let me see if I'm getting this right:

This morning he emailed saying he was sending my poster back, undone
 (again). This is good.

Later he starts harassing the he** out of me with his vulgarity and
incessant phone calls and leaves a message that he's keeping my poster
(suddenly backed) and I assumed that included my money. This is an
 about face.

Kirby, is it from you calling him?

I lost more than Richie, folks. Hey, if I'm going to lose my poster, I
may as well have some good come out of it. I'm glad to be of service to
you and I thank those of you who've stood up for me and those who spoke
about their own experiences with Chris.

I think he should start there. I mean, I don't think I've used that
word in front of a woman since I was a sophomore in hi-school and I
most certainly have never used it AT a woman in my entire life.
Behavior of that nature is much more telling than anything Chris could
 say here..

but like I said.. I had my single experience with Posterfix in 2004,
and based on that single experience I determined they were not worthy
of any further business . It was a $50 lesson for me and $50 worth of
 bad advertising for Posterfix

 Start there, Counselor.

I have telephoned Chris Cloutier and alerted him to the brou-ha-ha
on MOPO. I suggested he get in touch
with mopo to address the concerns. He said he would.

We don't have a dog in this hunt. We use different restorers.
Understand that this is not a comment
on Chris or his work, it's just a fact.

Dear Phil: I completely agree with you. I should probably keep my
mouth shut here, but it seems nobody else is, so here goes. I find it
pretty amazing that all this discussion (if that's the word) has been
been going on under the premise -- I believe somebody actually assured
the rest of us it was the case -- that Chris was always free to speak
up and defend himself, and here the guy doesn't even know what MOPO
is. I believe it's called the Obama strategy--where you buy up all the
airtime so that only one view can be represented (don't get me wrong,
I'm an Obama supporter). Frankly, I find that self-righteousness is
the ugliest form of human behavior. No prettier is trying to drive
someone's business into the ground by taking advantage of the closed
nature of the community and the communications channels by which it
sustains itself. It feels like I have been witnessing a lynching; or
maybe it's just a bad Fifties sci-fi movie. I have a lot of respect
for MOPO and all the people on it, but I don't think it's only Chris
that this entire exchange casts a pretty dismal light on.

I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut from here on in. Wouldn't want to
get in trouble with law enforcement!
